This image displays the main unit of the BN-LINK outdoor light timer. It features a rotary dial on the front for setting various timer modes, a photocell sensor, and two grounded outlets at the bottom. The power cord extends from the top with a right-angle plug.

Figure 2: Right-Angle Plug Design
This image highlights the right-angle design of the timer's plug, which allows it to be plugged into an outdoor outlet without interfering with the outlet cover, ensuring a secure and weather-protected connection.
Setup and Installation
- Choose a Location: Select an outdoor location that is protected from direct heavy rain and where the photocell sensor will receive natural light. Avoid areas with artificial light sources that might interfere with the sensor (e.g., streetlights, porch lights).
- Mounting: For optimal weather protection, install the timer vertically with the outlets facing downwards. Ensure the timer is mounted at least 2 feet (60 cm) above ground level. This prevents water from accumulating in or entering the outlets.
- Plug In: Connect the timer's plug into a grounded outdoor electrical outlet.
- Connect Devices: Plug your outdoor lights or appliances into the two grounded outlets on the timer. Ensure the total wattage does not exceed 1875W and the current does not exceed 15A.

Operating Instructions
The BN-LINK Outdoor Light Timer features a simple rotary dial for setting your desired operation mode.

Figure 4: Setting the Timer Dial
This image shows a hand adjusting the rotary dial on the timer, illustrating the ease of setting the desired operational mode. The dial includes options for timed operation (2H, 4H, 6H, 8H).

Figure 5: Photocell Sensor Operation
This image visually represents how the photocell sensor works, showing a clear distinction between daytime (lights off) and nighttime (lights on), demonstrating the automatic dusk-to-dawn functionality.
- OFF: Rotate the dial to "OFF" to keep the connected devices continuously off.
- ON: Rotate the dial to "ON" to keep the connected devices continuously on.
- Photocell Control (Dusk to Dawn): Rotate the dial to the "Photocell Control" setting (often indicated by a sun/moon icon or "Dusk Dawn"). In this mode, the timer will automatically turn on your devices at dusk and turn them off at dawn. There may be a slight delay (up to 30-40 seconds) for the sensor to react to light changes.
- Timed Countdown (2H, 4H, 6H, 8H): Rotate the dial to your desired duration (2H, 4H, 6H, or 8H). In these modes, the timer will turn on your devices at dusk and automatically turn them off after the selected number of hours. This cycle repeats daily.
The small indicator light on the timer will illuminate when the connected devices are receiving power.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Disconnect the timer from the power source before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the timer and its cords for any signs of damage, wear, or fraying. If damage is found, discontinue use and replace the unit.
- Photocell Sensor: Ensure the photocell sensor is clean and unobstructed for proper operation. Dust, dirt, or debris can interfere with its ability to detect light levels accurately.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Devices do not turn on at dusk. |
|
|
| Devices turn on/off at unexpected times. |
|
|
| Delay in turning on at dusk. | Normal operation for photocell sensors. | This is expected. The sensor requires a short period (typically 30-40 seconds) to register the change in light levels before activating. |
| Timer not weatherproof. | Incorrect installation. | Ensure the timer is installed vertically with outlets facing downwards, at least 2 feet above ground level. |
