Setup and Installation

  1. Choose a Location: Select an outdoor location that is protected from direct heavy rain and where the photocell sensor will receive natural light. Avoid areas with artificial light sources that might interfere with the sensor (e.g., streetlights, porch lights).
  2. Mounting: For optimal weather protection, install the timer vertically with the outlets facing downwards. Ensure the timer is mounted at least 2 feet (60 cm) above ground level. This prevents water from accumulating in or entering the outlets.
  3. Plug In: Connect the timer's plug into a grounded outdoor electrical outlet.
  4. Connect Devices: Plug your outdoor lights or appliances into the two grounded outlets on the timer. Ensure the total wattage does not exceed 1875W and the current does not exceed 15A.

Figure 5: Photocell Sensor Operation

This image visually represents how the photocell sensor works, showing a clear distinction between daytime (lights off) and nighttime (lights on), demonstrating the automatic dusk-to-dawn functionality.

  1. OFF: Rotate the dial to "OFF" to keep the connected devices continuously off.
  2. ON: Rotate the dial to "ON" to keep the connected devices continuously on.
  3. Photocell Control (Dusk to Dawn): Rotate the dial to the "Photocell Control" setting (often indicated by a sun/moon icon or "Dusk Dawn"). In this mode, the timer will automatically turn on your devices at dusk and turn them off at dawn. There may be a slight delay (up to 30-40 seconds) for the sensor to react to light changes.
  4. Timed Countdown (2H, 4H, 6H, 8H): Rotate the dial to your desired duration (2H, 4H, 6H, or 8H). In these modes, the timer will turn on your devices at dusk and automatically turn them off after the selected number of hours. This cycle repeats daily.

The small indicator light on the timer will illuminate when the connected devices are receiving power.
