Setup

  1. Battery Installation:

    Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the handset. Insert the two AA rechargeable batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -). Close the battery compartment cover securely.

  2. Base Unit Connection:

    Plug the small end of the AC power adapter into the power jack on the back of the telephone base. Plug the large end of the AC power adapter into a standard electrical outlet. Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the TEL LINE jack on the back of the telephone base. Plug the other end of the telephone line cord into a telephone wall jack.

  3. Initial Charging:

    Place the handset in the telephone base to charge. The handset will beep, indicating it is properly seated and charging. Allow the handset to charge for at least 12 hours before initial use to ensure optimal battery performance.

  4. Handset Registration:

    Your handset is pre-registered to the telephone base. If for any reason the handset is not registered (e.g., after a power outage or if you purchase an accessory handset), refer to the troubleshooting section or the full user manual for registration instructions.

Operating Your Phone

Making and Answering Calls

  • To Make a Call: Press TALK/FLASH or SPEAKER, then dial the phone number.
  • To Answer a Call: When the phone rings, press TALK/FLASH or SPEAKER.
  • To End a Call: Press OFF/CLEAR or place the handset back in the telephone base.

Volume Adjustment

During a call, press VOL ▲ or VOL ▼ on the side of the handset to adjust the listening volume.

Intercom and Call Transfer

The VTech CS5119 supports intercom functionality and call transfer between handsets (if accessory handsets are used). For detailed instructions on using these features, please consult the full user manual.

Redial

Press REDIAL to view the last numbers dialed. Press TALK/FLASH to call the displayed number.

Mute

During a call, press MUTE to temporarily silence the microphone. Press MUTE again to resume the conversation.

Caller ID

When you receive a call, the caller's information (name and number, if available) will appear on the handset display. You can review past calls by accessing the Caller ID log.

Phonebook/Directory

Store frequently called numbers in the phonebook for quick dialing. Refer to the handset menu for instructions on adding, editing, and deleting entries.

Digital Answering System

The integrated digital answering system records incoming messages when you are unavailable. Access messages via the handset or the telephone base. Follow the on-screen prompts to set up your outgoing announcement and manage messages.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the phone and base unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use cleaning sprays or harsh chemicals.
  • Battery Care: Use only the provided rechargeable batteries. If the phone will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Storage: Store the phone in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting
