4. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all components are present.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the removable water tank, portafilter, filters, and drip tray with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
  3. Filling the Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the back of the machine (refer to Figure 2). Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the 'MAX' mark. Reinsert the tank securely.
  4. Priming the Machine: Place a cup under the coffee outlet. Turn on the machine. Once the indicator light shows it's ready, activate the brewing function without coffee in the portafilter to allow water to flow through the system. Repeat this process for the steam function to prime the steam nozzle. This removes any air from the system.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Brewing Espresso

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled and the machine is plugged in and turned on. Allow the machine to preheat until the indicator light signals readiness.
  2. Select the appropriate filter for your desired amount of espresso (single or double shot) and place it into the portafilter.
  3. Add finely ground espresso coffee to the filter. Use the measuring spoon (Figure 4) to ensure the correct amount.
  4. Use the flat end of the measuring spoon to gently tamp the coffee grounds evenly. Do not over-tamp.
  5. Attach the portafilter to the brewing head by aligning it and twisting it firmly to the right until it locks into place.
  6. Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray beneath the portafilter spouts.
  7. Activate the brewing function. Observe the manometer to monitor the brewing pressure for optimal extraction.
  8. Once the desired amount of espresso is brewed, stop the brewing function.

5.2 Frothing Milk for Cappuccino/Latte Macchiato

  1. Fill a pitcher with cold milk (preferably whole milk) to about one-third full.
  2. Turn the steam function on and wait for the indicator light to show it's ready.
  3. Position the steam nozzle just below the surface of the milk.
  4. Open the steam valve slowly. Move the pitcher up and down to create a creamy foam.
  5. Once the milk is frothed to your desired consistency and temperature, close the steam valve and turn off the steam function.
  6. Immediately wipe the steam nozzle with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your espresso machine.

  • Daily Cleaning: After each use, remove and empty the portafilter. Rinse the portafilter and filter under running water. Empty and clean the drip tray and grid. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
  • Water Tank: Clean the removable water tank regularly with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
  • Descaling: Depending on water hardness and frequency of use, descaling should be performed every 2-3 months. Use a commercial descaling solution suitable for espresso machines and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Steam Nozzle: After each use, wipe the steam nozzle. If it becomes blocked, use a small pin to clear the opening.
