4. Safety Information

To ensure safe operation and prolong the lifespan of your EBL product, please adhere to the following safety guidelines:

• Do not disassemble or modify the charger or batteries.
• Keep the charger and batteries away from water, fire, and high temperatures.
• Use only compatible Ni-MH/Ni-CD rechargeable batteries with this charger. Do not attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries.
• Ensure correct polarity (+/-) when inserting batteries into the charger.
• Unplug the charger from the power outlet when not in use or during thunderstorms.

5. Setup

1. Unpack the Charger: Carefully remove the EBL Universal Charger and all accessories from its packaging.
2. Connect Power: Plug the AC power adapter into the charger's input port, then plug the other end into a standard wall outlet. The LCD display will illuminate.
3. Insert Batteries: Open the transparent cover of the charger. Insert the rechargeable batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, or 9V) into their respective slots, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). The LCD display will show the charging status for each battery.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Charging Batteries

1. After inserting batteries, the LCD display will show the current charge level and charging animation for AA/AAA/C/D batteries. For 9V batteries, an LED indicator will light up.
2. The charger automatically detects the battery type and initiates the appropriate charging process.
3. Once batteries are fully charged, the charger will switch to trickle charging to maintain full capacity and prevent overcharging. The LCD display will show a full battery icon.

6.2 Discharge Function

The charger features a discharge function to optimize battery performance and extend lifespan, especially for Ni-CD batteries which can suffer from memory effect.

• To initiate discharge, press the blue button located below the LCD screen. The charger will begin discharging the batteries.
• Once fully discharged, the charger will automatically switch back to charging mode.

6.3 Compatible Battery Types

7. Maintenance

• Battery Care: For optimal battery lifespan, it is recommended to fully discharge and then fully recharge batteries periodically, especially if they have not been used for an extended period.

8. Troubleshooting

• Batteries Not Charging:
  • Ensure the charger is properly plugged into a working power outlet.
  • Verify that batteries are inserted with correct polarity (+/-).
  • Check if the batteries are rechargeable (Ni-MH/Ni-CD). Non-rechargeable batteries will not charge.
  • If the LCD shows an error, the battery might be damaged or incompatible. Try a different battery.
• Charger Overheating:
  • Slight warmth during charging is normal. If the charger becomes excessively hot, unplug it immediately.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the charger. Do not cover it during operation.
• Inconsistent Charging:
  • Ensure battery contacts are clean.
  • Use the discharge function periodically to prevent memory effect, especially for Ni-CD batteries.
