2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully unpack all components and inspect them for any signs of damage. Retain the packaging for future storage or transport. The system includes:

  • 1 x Audix R62 Two-channel Diversity Receiver
  • 2 x Audix OM5 Handheld Transmitters
  • 2 x Receiver Antennas
  • 1 x Power Supply for Receiver
  • 1 x Padded Carrying Case

2.2 Receiver Connection

  1. Place the R62 receiver on a stable surface, away from potential sources of interference (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, other wireless devices).
  2. Attach the two included antennas to the antenna connectors on the rear of the receiver. Ensure they are securely tightened.
  3. Connect the supplied power adapter to the DC input on the rear of the receiver and plug it into a suitable AC power outlet.
  4. Connect the audio outputs (XLR or 1/4" jack) from the receiver to your mixer, PA system, or recording device.

2.3 Transmitter Battery Installation

Each OM5 handheld transmitter requires two AA batteries (not included). For optimal performance, use high-quality alkaline or rechargeable batteries.

  1. Unscrew the bottom cap of the OM5 handheld microphone to reveal the battery compartment.
  2. Insert two AA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  3. Screw the bottom cap back on securely.

2.4 System Synchronization (SYNC)

To establish communication between the receiver and transmitters, they must be synchronized.

  1. Power on the R62 receiver by pressing the power button on the front panel.
  2. Power on one of the OM5 handheld transmitters by pressing and holding its power button.
  3. On the receiver, press the "SYNC" button for the desired channel (Channel 1 or Channel 2). The SYNC indicator will flash.
  4. Hold the OM5 transmitter with its IR window facing the IR sensor on the receiver (located near the SYNC button for each channel).
  5. The SYNC indicator on the receiver will stop flashing and remain solid when synchronization is complete. The transmitter's display will show the synchronized frequency.
  6. Repeat the process for the second OM5 handheld transmitter.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Powering On/Off

  • Receiver: Press the power button on the front panel.
  • Transmitters: Press and hold the power button on the handheld microphone. To power off, press and hold the power button again until the display turns off.

3.2 Channel and Frequency Selection

The R62 receiver automatically selects optimal frequencies during synchronization. However, you can manually adjust channels if interference is encountered.

  • On the receiver, use the "SET" button and navigation buttons (if available, based on model variant) to browse and select alternative channels for each receiver channel.
  • After selecting a new channel on the receiver, you must re-synchronize the corresponding transmitter using the SYNC process described in Section 2.4.

3.3 Audio Level Adjustment

Adjust the output level of the receiver using the volume controls on the front panel. Fine-tune the microphone input gain on your mixer or PA system for optimal sound quality and to prevent clipping.

3.4 Usage Tips

  • Maintain a clear line of sight between the receiver antennas and the transmitters for best performance.
  • Avoid placing the receiver near large metal objects or other wireless devices that could cause interference.
  • Regularly check the battery indicator on the transmitters and replace batteries when low to avoid unexpected power loss during use.
  • For optimal vocal performance, hold the microphone approximately 1-6 inches from your mouth.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the receiver and transmitters with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish and internal components.
  • Periodically clean the microphone grille to remove debris.

4.2 Battery Replacement

Replace batteries in the handheld transmitters as soon as the low battery indicator appears. Always dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.

4.3 Storage

When not in use, store the system in its padded carrying case in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and humidity. Remove batteries from transmitters if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
