2. Safety Instructions

Please read these safety instructions carefully before operating the pump. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the power supply matches the pump's voltage (230V AC). Always connect the pump to a properly grounded outlet protected by a Residual Current Device (RCD) with a tripping current not exceeding 30 mA. Do not operate the pump if the power cable or housing is damaged.
  • Submersion: This pump is designed for submersible use only. Ensure it is fully submerged in water during operation to prevent overheating.
  • Water Quality: Do not use the pump for drinking water or for pumping corrosive, flammable, or explosive liquids.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the water feature and pump during operation.
  • Maintenance: Always disconnect the pump from the power supply before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or installation tasks.
  • Temperature: Do not operate the pump in water temperatures below freezing or above 35°C (95°F).

3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to correctly set up your Pontec PondoCompact 800 pump:

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the pump and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect for any damage.
  2. Hose Connection: Attach the desired hose (13mm, 17mm, or 19mm diameter) to the pump's outlet nozzle. Ensure a secure fit to prevent leaks.
  3. Placement: Place the pump on a stable, level surface at the bottom of your water feature or pond. The integrated suction cups on the base of the pump provide stability. Ensure the pump is fully submerged and positioned away from excessive debris.
  4. Cable Routing: Route the 10-meter power cable safely, ensuring it is not kinked, pinched, or exposed to sharp edges. Avoid placing the cable where it can be tripped over.
  5. Power Connection: Once the pump is securely placed and fully submerged, connect the power plug to a suitable, grounded electrical outlet with RCD protection.

4. Operating Instructions

The Pontec PondoCompact 800 is designed for continuous operation.

  • Start-up: After connecting to power, the pump will start immediately, circulating water at a flow rate of approximately 800 liters per hour.
  • Water Level: Always ensure the pump remains fully submerged during operation. Running the pump dry will cause damage and void the warranty.
  • Flow Adjustment: This model does not feature an adjustable flow rate. The pump operates at its maximum capacity of 800 l/h.
  • Shut-down: To turn off the pump, simply disconnect it from the power supply.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your pump.

  1. Disconnect Power: Always unplug the pump from the power outlet before any maintenance.
  2. Cleaning the Filter: The pump features an integrated filter screen. Periodically remove the pump from the water and clean the filter screen to remove any accumulated debris, leaves, or algae. This helps maintain optimal flow.
  3. Impeller Access: For thorough cleaning, the pump housing can be opened to access the impeller. Gently remove any blockages around the impeller. Refer to the diagrams for specific instructions on opening the housing (if available in a physical manual).
  4. Winterization: In regions with freezing temperatures, remove the pump from the water before the first frost. Clean it thoroughly, dry it, and store it in a frost-free location until spring.
