Setup
Powering On
The Sharp EL-377WB calculator utilizes a twin-power system, operating on solar energy in well-lit environments and switching to battery power (1 CR2 battery, included) when light is insufficient. To power on the calculator, press the ON/CA button. The display will show "0".
Initial Use
No specific initial setup is required beyond powering on. Ensure adequate lighting for solar operation or confirm the battery is correctly installed if operating in dim conditions.
Operating Instructions
Basic Arithmetic Operations
Perform standard calculations using the number keys (0-9), decimal point (.), and operation keys (+, -, ×, ÷). Press the = key to display the result.
- Addition: Enter first number, press +, enter second number, press =.
- Subtraction: Enter first number, press -, enter second number, press =.
- Multiplication: Enter first number, press ×, enter second number, press =.
- Division: Enter first number, press ÷, enter second number, press =.
Special Functions
- Clear Entry (CE) / All Clear (CA): Press C-CE once to clear the last entry. Press it twice to clear all calculations and memory (All Clear).
- Backspace Key (→): Use this key to delete the last digit entered.
- Percent Key (%): To calculate percentages, e.g., 100 + 10% = 110.
- Square Root Key (√): Calculates the square root of the displayed number.
- Sign Change (+/-): Changes the sign of the displayed number from positive to negative or vice versa.
Memory Functions
The calculator features a four-key independent memory system:
- M+: Adds the displayed value to the memory.
- M-: Subtracts the displayed value from the memory.
- RM (Recall Memory): Recalls the value currently stored in memory to the display.
- CM (Clear Memory): Clears the memory.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement
The calculator uses one CR2 battery. If the display becomes dim or unresponsive in low light, the battery may need replacement. To replace the battery:
- Ensure the calculator is powered off.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the unit.
- Carefully remove the screws securing the battery cover.
- Remove the old battery and insert a new CR2 battery, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery cover and secure it with the screws.
