3. Initial Power-On and Configuration
Once all connections are made, power on the DVR. The system will boot up, and you will be prompted to complete an initial setup wizard. This wizard typically includes setting the date/time, creating a password, and configuring network settings. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Operating the System
1. Live View and Recording
After initial setup, the DVR will display a live view from all connected cameras on your monitor. The system is configured to record continuously by default. You can adjust recording schedules, motion detection settings, and video quality through the DVR's main menu, accessible with the USB mouse.

2. Playback and Backup
To review recorded footage, navigate to the 'Playback' section in the DVR menu. You can search by date, time, and event type. To back up footage, insert a USB flash drive into the DVR's USB port and follow the on-screen instructions to export selected video clips.
3. Remote Access (Lorex App)
The Lorex system supports remote viewing via a dedicated mobile application (available for Android and iOS). Download the official Lorex app from your device's app store. Use the DVR's unique device ID (found in the network settings) to add your system to the app. This allows you to view live feeds, playback recordings, and receive alerts from anywhere with an internet connection.
4. Night Vision
Your cameras are equipped with infrared (IR) night vision technology. In low-light conditions, the cameras automatically switch to night vision mode, providing clear black and white video footage. Ensure there are no obstructions directly in front of the camera's IR LEDs for optimal performance.
Maintenance
- Hard Drive Health: Periodically check the DVR's hard drive status in the system settings. While the 2TB HDD is designed for continuous recording, regular checks can help identify potential issues early.
- Camera Cleaning: Gently clean camera lenses and housings with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, or cobwebs that may obstruct the view. Do not use harsh chemicals.
- Software Updates: Check the Lorex support website for firmware updates for your DVR. Keeping the firmware updated ensures optimal performance and security.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect all cables for wear and tear, especially outdoor cables, to ensure reliable connections.
