1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective installation, operation, and maintenance of the Sensor Switch PP20 Power Pack. The PP20 is a robust relay circuit protection device designed for 120/277 VAC applications, ensuring reliable power control and protection in various lighting and electrical systems. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and retain it for future reference.
2. Safety Information
WARNING: Risk of electric shock. Installation and servicing should be performed by qualified personnel only. Disconnect power at the circuit breaker or fuse before installing or servicing. Follow all national and local electrical codes.
- Ensure all wiring connections are secure and properly insulated.
- Do not exceed the specified voltage and current ratings.
- Operate the device only within its specified environmental conditions.
- Keep away from water and excessive moisture.
3. Product Overview
The Sensor Switch PP20 Power Pack is a critical component in automated lighting control systems. It provides the necessary power and relay switching for low-voltage occupancy sensors and photocells, converting line voltage to low voltage for sensor operation and switching line voltage loads. Its compact design allows for easy integration into various electrical enclosures.

4. Installation and Setup
Before You Begin: Ensure power is OFF at the circuit breaker. Verify the voltage supply matches the device's rating.
- Mounting: Mount the PP20 Power Pack to a standard 4x4 junction box or directly to a fixture knockout using the threaded nipple and locknut. Ensure it is securely fastened.
- Wiring - Line Voltage:
- Connect the BLACK wire to the incoming 120/277 VAC Line (Hot).
- Connect the WHITE wire to the Neutral.
- Connect the GREEN wire to Earth Ground.
- Connect the RED wire to the switched load (e.g., lighting fixture).
- Wiring - Low Voltage:
- Connect the VIOLET wire to the low-voltage input of the sensor (e.g., occupancy sensor).
- Connect the GRAY wire to the low-voltage common of the sensor.
- Connect the BROWN wire to the low-voltage output of the sensor (if applicable for specific sensor models).
- Power On: Once all connections are secure and verified, restore power at the circuit breaker.
- Testing: Test the functionality of the connected sensors and loads according to their respective manuals.
Note: Refer to the wiring diagram provided with your specific sensor for detailed connection instructions.
5. Operation
The PP20 Power Pack operates by receiving low-voltage signals from connected sensors (e.g., occupancy sensors, photocells) and, in response, switching the line voltage load (e.g., lights). When the sensor detects activity or light levels that require the load to be ON, it sends a signal to the PP20, which then closes its internal relay, supplying power to the connected load. Conversely, when the sensor signals the load to be OFF, the relay opens, cutting power.
The PP20 is designed for continuous operation within its specified electrical and environmental parameters. It does not have user-adjustable settings; all control is managed by the connected low-voltage sensors.
6. Maintenance
The Sensor Switch PP20 Power Pack is designed for maintenance-free operation. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Do not attempt to open or repair the unit. Any attempt to do so will void the warranty and may pose a safety hazard.
Periodically inspect the device and its wiring for any signs of damage, wear, or loose connections. Ensure the area around the power pack is free from excessive dust or moisture accumulation.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Load (e.g., lights) does not turn ON. | No power to PP20; faulty sensor; incorrect wiring; tripped circuit breaker. | Check circuit breaker; verify line voltage wiring; test sensor operation; inspect low-voltage wiring. |
| Load does not turn OFF. | Sensor malfunction; relay stuck (rare); incorrect sensor settings. | Check sensor settings and operation; disconnect sensor to see if load turns off (indicates sensor issue). |
| Intermittent operation. | Loose wiring connections; unstable power supply; sensor interference. | Verify all wiring connections are secure; ensure stable power; check for sources of interference near sensor. |
If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, contact qualified electrical personnel or Sensor Switch technical support.
