Introduction

The GoPro Karma Grip is a camera stabilizer designed to capture smooth, professional-quality video. It is compatible with the GoPro HERO5 Black camera and can be used handheld, gear-mounted, or body-worn. The stabilizer can also be detached from the grip and attached to the Karma Drone for aerial footage.

This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Karma Grip.

Setup

1. Attaching the HERO5 Black Camera

1. Ensure your HERO5 Black camera is powered off.
2. Align the Karma Harness with the camera and gently slide the camera into the harness until it clicks securely into place.
3. Attach the Karma Harness with the camera to the Karma Grip by aligning the connectors and twisting the locking ring until it is tight.

2. Charging the Karma Grip

Connect the supplied USB-C cable to the charging port on the Karma Grip and to a USB power source. The LED indicators will show charging status. A full charge provides approximately 2 hours of battery life.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

• To power on, press and hold the Power button until the LED indicators light up.
• To power off, press and hold the Power button until the LED indicators turn off.

2. Camera Controls

The Karma Grip features integrated camera controls allowing you to:

• Power On/Off: Control the camera's power directly from the grip.
• Change Modes: Switch between video, photo, and other camera modes.
• Start/Stop Recording: Initiate or end video recording or capture photos.
• Add Highlight Tags: Mark key moments during recording for easier editing.

3. Stabilization and Mounting

The Karma Grip provides professional-grade stabilization for smooth footage. It can be used handheld or mounted to various GoPro accessories.

The stabilizer can be detached from the grip and used with the Karma Drone (sold separately) for aerial stabilization. An optional Karma Grip Extension Cable allows for mounting the stabilizer to a helmet while keeping the grip accessible on a backpack strap.

Maintenance

• Keep the Karma Grip clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
• Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or moisture. The Karma Grip is not water resistant.
• Store the Karma Grip in a protective case when not in use to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting

1. Device Not Powering On

• Ensure the Karma Grip is fully charged. Connect it to a power source using the USB-C cable.
• Verify that the camera is correctly seated in the harness and the harness is securely attached to the grip.

2. Unstable Footage

• Check that the camera is firmly secured in the harness and the harness is tightly connected to the grip.
• Ensure the Karma Grip's firmware is up to date. Refer to the GoPro official website for the latest firmware and update instructions.

3. Controls Not Responding

• Restart both the Karma Grip and the HERO5 Black camera.
• Ensure there is no debris or obstruction around the control buttons.
