2. Safety Instructions
Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent electric shock, fire, and serious injury.
General Power Tool Safety Warnings
- Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use hearing protection when operating the tool for extended periods. Wear a dust mask if operations create dust. Dress properly; do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.
- Power Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Selecting Operating Mode
The mode selector switch allows you to choose between three operating modes:
- Rotary Drilling (Drill Symbol): For drilling in wood, metal, ceramics, and plastics. Use with the Quick Change Chuck and cylindrical drill bits.
- Hammer Drilling (Hammer and Drill Symbol): For drilling in concrete and masonry. Use with the SDS Plus chuck and SDS Plus drill bits.
- Chiseling (Chisel Symbol): For light chiseling work. Use with the SDS Plus chuck and chisels. The Vario Lock function allows for adjusting the chisel position.
To change the mode, rotate the selector switch to the desired symbol. Ensure the tool is not running when changing modes.
5.2 Variable Speed Control
The trigger switch provides variable speed control. Pressing the trigger further increases the speed. This allows for precise starting of drilling and adaptation to different materials.
5.3 Reversible Swivel (Rotation Direction)
The direction of rotation can be changed using the reversible swivel switch, typically located near the trigger. This is useful for removing jammed drill bits or for driving/removing screws (if using appropriate accessories and chuck).
