Operating Instructions
Basic Pressure Cooking Steps
- Add Ingredients: Place food and the required amount of liquid into the inner pot. Do not exceed the MAX fill line.
- Secure the Lid: Place the lid on the cooker base, aligning the arrow on the lid with the "INSTALL/REMOVE" mark on the cooker base. Rotate the lid clockwise until it locks into place, aligning the arrow on the lid with the "LOCKED" mark.
- Set Steam Release Valve: Ensure the steam release valve is in the "SEALING" position for pressure cooking.
- Select Function: Plug in the cooker. Press the desired function button (e.g., "Meat/Roast", "Rice/Multigrain"). The default cooking time will display.
- Adjust Time (Optional): Use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the cooking time if needed.
- Start Cooking: The cooker will automatically begin preheating. Once pressure is reached, the float valve will rise, and the cooking timer will begin counting down.
- Pressure Release:
- Natural Release: Allow the cooker to cool down naturally. The float valve will drop on its own. This is recommended for foamy foods or large cuts of meat.
- Quick Release: Carefully turn the steam release valve to the "VENTING" position. Steam will rapidly escape. Use caution to avoid burns. This is suitable for delicate foods like vegetables.
- Open Lid: Once the float valve has dropped and all pressure is released, rotate the lid counter-clockwise to the "INSTALL/REMOVE" position and lift it away from you to avoid residual steam.
Other Functions
- Brown/Sauté: Use this function to brown meats or sauté vegetables before pressure cooking. Press "Brown/Sauté", add oil, and wait for the inner pot to heat.
- Slow Cook: For slow cooking, ensure the steam release valve is in the "VENTING" position. Press "Slow Cook" and adjust time as needed.
- Keep Warm: After cooking, the cooker automatically switches to "Keep Warm" mode. Press "Keep Warm/Cancel" to manually activate or deactivate this function.
Care and Maintenance
Cleaning
- Inner Pot: The nonstick inner pot is dishwasher safe, but hand washing with warm, soapy water is recommended to prolong its life.
- Lid and Sealing Ring: Wash the lid and sealing ring in warm, soapy water. Remove the sealing ring for thorough cleaning and ensure it is properly reinstalled before next use.
- Steam Release Valve and Float Valve: Check these components for food debris and clean as necessary to ensure proper function.
- Cooker Base: Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Never immerse the cooker base in water or any other liquid.
Storage
Ensure all parts are clean and dry before storing. Store the pressure cooker in a dry place. For best results, store the lid inverted on the inner pot to prevent the sealing ring from compressing permanently.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Cooker not building pressure. | Lid not properly sealed; steam release valve in "VENTING" position; insufficient liquid. | Ensure lid is locked and sealing ring is correctly seated. Turn steam release valve to "SEALING". Add more liquid if necessary. |
