5. Setup and Installation

The Renkforce PIR Motion Detector is designed for built-in installation within a wall. Due to the electrical nature of this product, installation should only be carried out by a qualified electrician.

1. Power Disconnection: Before starting any installation work, ensure the main power supply to the circuit where the detector will be installed is completely disconnected at the fuse box or circuit breaker. Verify with a voltage tester.
2. Location Selection: Choose a suitable location on the wall where the detector can cover the desired area without obstruction. Avoid placing it near heat sources (e.g., radiators, direct sunlight) or air conditioning vents, as these can cause false triggers. Consider the detection angle (160°) and range (up to 9 meters).
3. Prepare Wall Opening: Create an appropriate opening in the wall for the built-in installation, matching the dimensions of the device. The product dimensions are approximately 80 x 80 x 62 mm (L x W x H).
4. Wiring: Connect the electrical wires to the terminals on the back of the motion detector according to the wiring diagram provided with the product (if applicable, typically printed on the device or in a separate leaflet). Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.
5. Mounting: Carefully insert the motion detector into the prepared wall opening and secure it using the appropriate mounting mechanisms (e.g., screws, clamps) until it is flush with the wall surface.

6. Operating Instructions

The Renkforce PIR Motion Detector operates automatically once installed and powered.

• Automatic Detection: The sensor continuously monitors its detection area for movement by sensing changes in infrared radiation (body heat).
• Load Activation: When motion is detected within its 160° field of view and up to 9 meters range, the detector will activate the connected electrical load (e.g., turn on lights).
• Deactivation: After the detected motion ceases and a pre-set time delay (if adjustable, typically internal and not externally controllable on this model) has elapsed, the detector will deactivate the load (e.g., turn off lights).
• No External Override: Please note that this model typically does not feature an external override switch for continuous ON/OFF operation. Its primary function is automatic motion-activated control.

The Renkforce PIR Motion Detector requires minimal maintenance.

• Cleaning: Periodically clean the sensor lens and the outer casing with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the device or impair sensor performance.
• No User-Serviceable Parts: The device contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to open or repair the unit yourself. Any unauthorized tampering will void the warranty.

• Device Not Activating / No Output:
  • Check if the main power supply to the circuit is active.

  • Ensure there are no obstructions blocking the sensor's field of view.
  • Confirm that the ambient temperature is not too close to body temperature, which can reduce detection sensitivity.
• Flickering Light / Unstable Operation:
  • This can sometimes occur with certain types of LED lamps when used with motion detectors not specifically designed for them. Try a different type of lamp (e.g., incandescent, or a different brand/model of LED known to be compatible with motion sensors).
  • Check for loose wiring connections, which can cause intermittent power.
  • Ensure the connected load's wattage is within the detector's specified limits.
• False Triggers / Constant Activation:
  • Check for heat sources (e.g., heating vents, direct sunlight, pets) within the detection area that might be causing false activations.
  • Ensure the sensor lens is clean and free from dust or debris.
  • Strong air currents or drafts can sometimes cause false triggers; ensure the installation location is stable.
