3. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your VTech CS6919-2 phone system.
3.1 Battery Installation and Charging
- Install the Battery: Open the battery compartment cover on the back of each handset. Connect the battery pack connector securely into the jack inside the compartment. Place the battery pack with the label "THIS SIDE UP" facing up. Close the battery compartment cover.
- Charge the Handset: Place each handset face forward in its respective telephone base or charger. The CHARGE light on the handset will illuminate, indicating proper charging. Allow the handsets to charge for at least 16 hours before initial use. For optimal battery performance, keep the handsets in the charger when not in use.
3.2 Base Unit and Charger Connection
- Connect the Telephone Base: Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the TEL LINE jack on the back of the telephone base. Plug the other end into a telephone wall jack.
- Connect the Power Adapter: Plug the small end of the power adapter into the POWER jack on the back of the telephone base. Plug the large end into a standard electrical outlet.
- Connect the Charger: For the auxiliary handset, plug the small end of its power adapter into the POWER jack on the back of the charger. Plug the large end into a standard electrical outlet.

3.3 Wall Mounting (Optional)
The telephone base can be mounted on a wall using the included wall mount bracket. Refer to the separate wall mount guide for detailed instructions.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Basic Call Functions
- Make a Call: Press TALK/FLASH or SPEAKER, then dial the phone number.
- Answer a Call: When the phone rings, press TALK/FLASH or SPEAKER.
- End a Call: Press OFF/CANCEL or place the handset back in the telephone base or charger.
- Speakerphone: During a call, press SPEAKER to switch between handset and speakerphone mode.
4.2 Caller ID
When you subscribe to Caller ID service, the caller's name and number will appear on the handset display. The phone stores information for the last 30 incoming calls.
- Review Caller ID Log: Press CID to scroll through the Caller ID log.
- Dial from Caller ID Log: While viewing an entry, press TALK/FLASH to dial the number.
4.3 Call Blocking
The call block feature allows you to prevent calls from up to 20 specific numbers. This feature requires a Caller ID subscription.
- Add a Number to Call Block:
- Press MENU/SELECT.
- Scroll to Call block and press MENU/SELECT.
- Scroll to Add new entry and press MENU/SELECT.
- Enter the phone number you wish to block (up to 30 digits).
- Press MENU/SELECT to save.
- Block an Incoming Call: During an incoming call, press CALL BLOCK (if available on your handset model) or follow the menu options to block the number.
4.4 Handset Registration/Deregistration
Your handsets are pre-registered to the telephone base. If you purchase additional handsets or need to re-register a handset, follow these steps:
- Deregister Handsets: This is sometimes necessary before registering new handsets or if experiencing issues.
- On the telephone base, press and hold FIND HANDSET for about 10 seconds until the IN USE light on the base flashes.
- Immediately press FIND HANDSET again. All handsets registered to the base will be deregistered.
- Register a Handset:
- Place the handset in the telephone base or charger.
- On the telephone base, press and hold FIND HANDSET for about 4 seconds until the IN USE light on the base flashes. Release the button.
- On the handset, press # (pound key). The handset will display "Registering..." and then "Handset Registered" if successful.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Clean the phone and charger with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use cleaning sprays or liquid cleaners. Ensure the phone is unplugged from the wall outlet before cleaning.
5.2 Battery Care
- Use only the supplied rechargeable Ni-MH battery pack.
- Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. They may explode.
- Do not open or mutilate the battery. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause burns or injury to the eyes or skin.
- To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this product to water or any type of moisture.
