Setup
1. Unpacking and Placement
- Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
- Place the sound bar in front of your television, ensuring it does not obstruct the TV's remote sensor.
- Position the wireless subwoofer in a suitable location within the room. The subwoofer connects wirelessly to the sound bar.
2. Connecting the Sound Bar to Your TV
The RSB-14 offers multiple connection options for your television:
- HDMI ARC: Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI ARC port on the sound bar to the HDMI ARC port on your TV. This is the recommended connection for optimal audio quality and control. Ensure CEC/ARC is enabled on your TV (refer to your TV's manual).
- Optical: Connect an optical cable from the OPTICAL input on the sound bar to the optical output on your TV.
- Analog: Connect an analog audio cable (RCA or 3.5mm) from the ANALOG input on the sound bar to the corresponding audio output on your TV.
3. Power Connection
- Connect the power cord to the sound bar and then to a wall outlet.
- Connect the power cord to the wireless subwoofer and then to a wall outlet. The subwoofer LED should blink and then turn solid blue when linked to the sound bar.
4. Klipsch Stream App (Play-Fi) Setup
For multi-room audio and advanced control, download the Klipsch Stream app on your smartphone or tablet. Follow the in-app instructions to connect your RSB-14 to your home Wi-Fi network and integrate it with other Play-Fi compatible devices.
Operating Instructions
1. Basic Controls
- Power: Press the power button on the sound bar or remote control to turn the system on or off.
- Volume: Use the volume up/down buttons on the remote or sound bar to adjust the audio level.
- Input Selection: Press the input button on the remote or sound bar to cycle through available audio sources (HDMI, Optical, Analog, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi).
2. Night Mode
Night mode reduces the dynamic range of the audio, making quiet passages louder and loud passages softer. This is useful for late-night listening. Note that the subwoofer does not play in Night mode. Activate/deactivate Night mode using the remote control.
3. Bluetooth Connectivity
To pair a Bluetooth device:
- Select Bluetooth as the input source on the sound bar.
- Enable Bluetooth on your device and search for "Klipsch RSB-14".
- Select the sound bar to pair. Once paired, audio from your device will play through the sound bar.
4. Play-Fi Functionality
Utilize the Klipsch Stream app to manage your RSB-14 and other Play-Fi enabled speakers. This allows for multi-room audio streaming and control over your network.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surfaces of the sound bar and subwoofer. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Klipsch Stream app for available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Klipsch RSB-14 system, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
Subwoofer Not Working
- Ensure Night mode is off, as the subwoofer does not operate in this mode.
- Disconnect and reconnect power to the subwoofer. Verify the blue LED on the subwoofer blinks and then turns solid, indicating it's linked to the sound bar.
- If there is no LED, check the power outlet for functionality.
- If the LED blinks but never turns solid, perform the subwoofer pairing process as described in the full owner's manual (if available).
ARC (Audio Return Channel) Not Working
- Follow the procedure in the manual to turn on CEC/ARC on the sound bar.
- Ensure CEC/ARC is also enabled on your television. Consult your TV manufacturer's instructions, as some brands may use different names for CEC/ARC.
Klipsch Stream (Play-Fi) Has Constant Cutting Out or Loss of Connection
- Check your Wi-Fi signal strength using the Klipsch Stream app. A minimum of '2 bars' signal strength is recommended for a reliable connection.
- Consider repositioning your Wi-Fi router to achieve a stronger Wi-Fi signal.
- Refer to the list of Play-Fi recommended routers for optimal compatibility.
Constant Whir/Buzz Noise
- If connected via analog cable or HDMI, the length of the cable and potential for ground loop issues in your home's wiring or cable TV can affect system noise.
- Disconnect all input cables and test alternate sources one at a time to isolate the issue.
- Use shorter analog or HDMI cables if possible.
- Using an optical input cable can help eliminate noise generated from a ground loop coming from a cable box or TV.
