Setup
Follow these steps to set up your Yamaha P71 Digital Piano:
- Placement: Place the digital piano on a stable, flat surface or a compatible keyboard stand. Ensure there is adequate space for playing and access to power outlets.
- Music Rest Installation: Insert the music rest into the designated slots on the top panel of the piano.
- Power Connection: Connect the supplied power adapter to the DC IN jack on the rear of the piano. Plug the other end into a wall outlet.
- Sustain Pedal Connection: Connect the sustain pedal to the SUSTAIN jack on the rear of the piano.
- Headphones (Optional): For private practice, connect standard stereo headphones to the PHONES jack.
- USB Connection (Optional): To connect to a computer for MIDI functionality, use a USB cable (not included) to connect the USB TO HOST terminal on the piano to a USB port on your computer.

Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
Press the [POWER] button located on the left side of the control panel to turn the piano on or off. The power indicator light will illuminate when the unit is on.
Adjusting Volume
Use the [MASTER VOLUME] slider to adjust the overall output volume of the piano. Slide it towards MIN to decrease volume and towards MAX to increase volume.
Selecting Voices (Sounds)
The P71 offers 10 different voices. To select a voice:
- Press and hold the [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION] button.
- While holding the button, press one of the keys corresponding to the desired voice. The voice names are printed above the keys on the control panel (e.g., GRAND PIANO 1, E. PIANO 1, ORGAN 1, STRINGS, HARPSICHORD, VIBRA-PHONE).

Dual Mode (Layering Voices)
Dual Mode allows you to play two voices simultaneously. For example, you can layer a piano voice with a string voice.
- Select the first voice as described above.
- While holding the [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION] button, press the key corresponding to the second voice you wish to layer.
- Release the [GRAND PIANO/FUNCTION] button. Both voices will now sound when you play the keys.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the piano's surface with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and then wipe dry. Avoid abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use, keep the piano covered to protect it from dust. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Handling: Always lift the piano by its base when moving it. Avoid dropping or subjecting it to strong impacts.
- Power Adapter: Use only the supplied power adapter. Disconnect the power adapter from the wall outlet when the piano will not be used for an extended period.
Troubleshooting
