3. Assembly and Setup

Follow these steps to assemble your wet/dry vacuum before first use.

3.1 Attaching the Casters

  1. Invert the tank assembly.
  2. Insert each caster stem into the designated holes on the bottom of the tank base.
  3. Push firmly until each caster clicks securely into place.

3.2 Filter Installation

The type of filter required depends on whether you are performing wet or dry vacuuming.

  • For Dry Vacuuming: Install the reusable dry filter or a disposable dust bag. Ensure the dry filter is clean and properly seated over the filter cage. If using a dust bag, attach it to the inlet port inside the tank.
  • For Wet Vacuuming: Remove the dry filter and dust bag. Install the foam filter over the filter cage. Ensure it is securely in place.

3.3 Hose and Accessory Connection

  1. Connect the flexible hose to the quick-connect vacuum port on the front of the unit by twisting it clockwise until secure.
  2. Attach the desired accessory (gulper nozzle, floor nozzle, or crevice nozzle) directly to the end of the hose or to one or more extension wands for extended reach.

4. Operating Instructions

Your STANLEY SL18115 Wet/Dry Vacuum offers three primary functions: wet vacuuming, dry vacuuming, and blowing.

4.1 Dry Vacuuming

  1. Ensure the reusable dry filter or a disposable dust bag is correctly installed.
  2. Connect the hose and desired dry vacuuming accessory (e.g., floor nozzle for large areas, crevice nozzle for tight spaces).
  3. Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.
  4. Turn the vacuum ON using the large on/off switch.
  5. Begin vacuuming dry debris such as dust, sawdust, or dirt.
  6. When finished, turn the vacuum OFF and unplug it.

4.2 Wet Vacuuming

  1. Remove the dry filter and dust bag. Install the foam filter.
  2. Connect the hose and a suitable wet vacuuming accessory (e.g., gulper nozzle for liquid spills).
  3. Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.
  4. Turn the vacuum ON.
  5. Vacuum liquid spills. The built-in safety buoy will automatically shut off suction when the tank is full to prevent motor damage.
  6. When finished, turn the vacuum OFF, unplug it, and empty the tank.

4.3 Blower Function

  1. Ensure the tank is empty and clean.
  2. Disconnect the hose from the vacuum port.
  3. Connect the hose to the blower port located on the motor head.
  4. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet.
  5. Turn the vacuum ON. The unit will now function as a blower, ideal for clearing leaves or debris from surfaces.
  6. When finished, turn the vacuum OFF and unplug it.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your STANLEY SL18115 Wet/Dry Vacuum.

5.1 Emptying the Tank

After wet or dry vacuuming, always empty the tank. Release the lid latches, remove the motor head, and carefully pour out liquids or dispose of dry debris.

  • Disposable Dust Bag: Replace the dust bag when it is full or when suction performance decreases.

5.3 Storage

Store the hose and power cord by wrapping them around the top handle and side wraps. Store accessories in the integrated accessory holder on the base of the vacuum.
