Setup Guide
1. Charging the Battery:
- Connect the charger to a power outlet.
- Insert the radio with its battery into the charging cradle.
- The charging indicator light will illuminate. Once fully charged (approx. 3 hours), the light will change color or turn off.
2. Attaching the Belt Clip:
- Align the belt clip with the screw holes on the back of the radio.
- Secure the clip using the provided screws.
3. Connecting the Earpiece:
- Locate the speaker/mic port on the side of the radio.
- Insert the earpiece plug firmly into the port. When the earpiece is connected, audio will be routed to the earpiece, and the radio's internal speaker will be muted.
Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off and Volume Control:
- To power on the radio, rotate the Power/Voice Volume knob clockwise.
- Continue rotating clockwise to increase the volume.
- Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease the volume.
- To power off, rotate the knob fully counter-clockwise until it clicks.
2. Channel Selection:
- Use the Channel Selector Plus and Channel Selector Reduce buttons on the side of the radio to change channels.
- A synthesized voice will announce the channel number as you change it.
3. Transmitting (Push-to-Talk - PTT):
- To transmit, press and hold the PTT key on the side of the radio.
- Speak clearly into the microphone (either on the radio or the earpiece).
- Release the PTT key to stop transmitting and return to receive mode.
4. VOX Function:
- The radio supports VOX (Voice Operated Exchange), allowing hands-free transmission when enabled. Refer to the full user manual for detailed instructions on enabling and adjusting VOX sensitivity.
5. Monitor Function:
- Press the Monitor key to temporarily disable squelch and listen for weak signals on the current channel.
Maintenance
Battery Care:
- Fully charge batteries before first use.
- Avoid overcharging or completely draining the battery to prolong its lifespan.
- Store radios and batteries in a cool, dry place when not in use.
Cleaning:
- Wipe the radio's surface with a soft, damp cloth.
