Setup

1. Unpacking

2. First Use & Priming

Before first use, it is crucial to prime the machine to ensure proper water flow and remove any air from the system. Fill the water tank with fresh water. Place a cup under the dispenser. Without a capsule, move the lever to the hot (red) position and allow water to flow until it runs smoothly. Repeat for the cold (blue) position. This process primes the machine and cleans the internal components.

3. Water Tank Installation

Fill the removable water tank (45oz capacity) with fresh, clean water. Ensure it is securely placed back into its position on the machine.

4. Power Connection

Connect the machine to a standard 120-volt power outlet. The power button will illuminate, indicating the machine is ready for use.

Operating Instructions

Making a Black Coffee (e.g., Medium Roast)

1. Step 1: Insert Capsule. Open the capsule holder and insert one black coffee capsule (e.g., Medium Roast). Close the holder.
2. Step 2: Lock Lever. Push down the locking lever to secure the capsule.
3. Step 3: Adjust Water Volume. Match the bars indicated on the capsule to the LED display on the machine using the joystick. For a full 12-ounce cup, dial it up. For a more concentrated flavor, dial it down.
4. Step 4: Brew. Move the lever to the right (red dot) for hot brewing. The machine will automatically stop when the selected volume is dispensed.

Making a Specialty Coffee (e.g., Latte Macchiato)

Specialty coffees like cappuccinos and lattes typically use two capsules: a milk capsule (white) and an espresso capsule (black).

1. Step 1: Insert Milk Capsule. Open the capsule holder and insert the white milk capsule. Close the holder.
2. Step 2: Lock Lever. Push down the locking lever to secure the capsule.
3. Step 3: Adjust Water Volume for Milk. Match the bars indicated on the milk capsule to the LED display on the machine.
4. Step 4: Dispense Milk. Move the lever to the right (red dot) for hot milk. The machine will dispense the milk and stop automatically.
5. Step 5: Insert Espresso Capsule. Remove the used milk capsule. Insert the black espresso capsule. Close the holder and lock the lever.
6. Step 6: Adjust Water Volume for Espresso. Match the bars indicated on the espresso capsule to the LED display.
7. Step 7: Dispense Espresso. Move the lever to the right (red dot) for hot espresso. The machine will dispense the espresso shot, completing your layered beverage.

Hot and Cold Beverages

Your NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Genio 2 machine can brew both hot and iced beverages. To brew a cold drink, after setting the water volume, move the lever to the left (blue dot). This is ideal for iced coffees and teas.

Maintenance
