1. Introduction

The Atlas Sound SMA-15 is a high-performance 15-inch 2-way powered portable loudspeaker designed for a wide range of applications including rental/staging, DJ events, houses of worship, public speaking engagements, schools, and other scenarios where a fixed installation is not required. 2. Safety Instructions

• Power Source: Connect the unit only to the specified power supply (Corded Electric). Ensure the voltage matches the unit's requirements.

4. Product Overview

The SMA-15 features a robust injection-molded polypropylene enclosure housing a 15-inch die-cast low-frequency driver and a high-performance, high-frequency compression driver. It includes an integrated 250-watt RMS amplifier.

Rear Panel Connections and Controls:

• Mic In (XLR): Input for connecting a microphone.

5. Setup

Follow these steps for initial setup of your SMA-15 loudspeaker:

1. Placement: Position the loudspeaker on a stable, flat surface or mount it on a standard 1-3/8 inch speaker pole using the integral pole socket. Ensure the location is free from obstructions and provides adequate ventilation.
2. Power Connection: Ensure the power switch on the rear panel is in the 'OFF' position. Connect the supplied AC power cord to the AC Inlet on the rear panel and then to a suitable electrical outlet.
3. Audio Input Connection:
   • For microphones, connect an XLR cable from your microphone to the 'Mic In' XLR input.
   • For line-level sources (e.g., mixer, CD player), connect an XLR cable to the 'Line In' XLR input or RCA cables to the 'Line In' RCA inputs.
4. Output Connection (Optional):
   • To connect a second SMA speaker, use an XLR cable from the 'Line Out' XLR of the first SMA-15 to the 'Line In' XLR of the second unit.
   • To power a passive SMP speaker, connect a Speak-ON cable from the 'Amp Out' Speak-ON of the SMA-15 to the input of the SMP speaker.
5. Initial Control Settings: Before powering on, set all Gain and EQ controls to their minimum (fully counter-clockwise) positions.

Once the SMA-15 is set up, follow these steps to begin operation:

1. Power On: Flip the 'Power' switch on the rear panel to the 'ON' position. The power indicator light should illuminate.
2. Adjust Input Gain: Slowly increase the 'Gain' control for the connected input (Mic or Line) until the desired volume level is achieved without distortion. If using a microphone, speak into it at your normal volume while adjusting.
3. Adjust EQ: Use the 'Low', 'Mid' (for Mic), and 'High' band controls to fine-tune the sound to your preference and the acoustic environment. These controls allow you to maximize the sound quality of your source.
4. System Expansion: If connecting a second SMA speaker via 'Line Out', ensure the second speaker is also powered on and its 'Line In' gain is adjusted appropriately. If powering a passive SMP speaker, ensure it is correctly connected to the 'Amp Out'.
5. Crossover Information: The SMA-15 features a -6dB crossover point at 1575Hz. The high-pass crossover section is equipped with a Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) resettable switch, which protects the high-frequency driver from damage due to excessive power.
