Setup and Installation
1. Unpacking
- Remove all packaging materials, including the foam base and adhesive tape holding accessories in place.
- Inspect the refrigerator for any shipping damage. Report any damage to the retailer immediately.
2. Placement
- Place the refrigerator on a flat, solid surface strong enough to support the unit when fully loaded.
- Allow at least 5 inches (12.7 cm) of space between the back and sides of the refrigerator and any adjacent walls or furniture to ensure proper air circulation.
- Avoid placing the refrigerator in direct sunlight or near heat sources such as stoves, heaters, or radiators.
- Ensure the refrigerator is level. Adjust the leveling feet if necessary to prevent vibrations and ensure proper door sealing.
3. Electrical Connection
- Before plugging in, allow the refrigerator to stand upright for at least 2-4 hours. This allows the refrigerant to settle.
- Connect the refrigerator to a dedicated, grounded 115V, 60Hz AC outlet. Do not use an extension cord.
Operating Instructions
1. Temperature Control
The refrigerator is equipped with an adjustable thermostat. The temperature control dial is typically located inside the fresh food compartment.
- Turn the dial to a higher number for colder temperatures and a lower number for warmer temperatures.
- The recommended setting for general use is typically "3" or "4".
- Allow several hours for the temperature to stabilize after adjusting the control.
2. Food Storage
- Store food in sealed containers to prevent odors and drying out.
- Do not overload the refrigerator, as this can restrict airflow and reduce cooling efficiency.
- Ensure the door is fully closed after each use to maintain internal temperature.
3. Defrosting
This refrigerator features an automatic defrost system for the fresh food compartment. The freezer compartment may require manual defrosting if ice buildup becomes excessive (typically 1/4 inch or 6mm thick).
- To manually defrost the freezer, unplug the unit.
- Remove all food items and place them in a cooler.
- Leave the freezer door open to allow ice to melt naturally. Do not use sharp objects or heating devices to speed up defrosting.
- Wipe away melted water with a cloth.
- Once defrosted and dry, plug the unit back in and allow it to cool before returning food.
Maintenance and Cleaning
1. Cleaning the Interior
- Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning.
- Wash the interior surfaces with a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda to one quart of warm water.
- Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
- Clean removable parts (shelves, door bins) in a mild detergent solution and dry thoroughly.
2. Cleaning the Exterior
- Clean the exterior with a mild soap and water solution.
- Wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth.
- Regularly clean the condenser coils at the back of the unit (if accessible) with a vacuum cleaner or soft brush to maintain efficiency.
3. Door Gasket Care
- Keep the door gaskets clean to ensure a proper seal.
- Wash with mild soap and water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
4. Power Outage
- During a power outage, keep the refrigerator door closed to maintain temperature as long as possible.
- If the outage is prolonged, consider transferring perishable items to a cooler with ice.
