4. Setup

4.1 Assembling the Stand

Carefully remove the display and stand components from the packaging. Attach the stand neck to the display panel, ensuring it clicks securely into place. Then, attach the stand base to the neck, typically with a screw or locking mechanism. Refer to the diagram below for visual guidance.

4.2 Connecting Cables

Before connecting cables, ensure the display and your computer are powered off. Connect the necessary cables to the corresponding ports on the rear of the display and your computer.

  • Power Cable: Connect the power cord to the display's power input and then to a wall outlet.
  • Video Cable: Connect one end of a DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI-D, or VGA cable to the display and the other end to your computer's graphics card. DisplayPort is recommended for optimal performance.
  • USB Upstream Cable: Connect the USB 3.0 upstream cable from the display's USB upstream port to an available USB port on your computer to enable the integrated USB 3.0 hub.
  • Audio (Optional): If your computer supports audio output via DisplayPort or HDMI, the display can receive audio.

4.3 VESA Mounting

The display supports VESA 100 x 100mm mounting standards. To mount the display on a wall or an articulating arm, first remove the stand. Secure the VESA-compatible mount to the display using appropriate screws (not included). Follow the instructions provided with your VESA mounting kit.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

Press the power button located on the front bezel of the display to turn it on or off. The power indicator light will illuminate when the display is active.

5.2 On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu

The display features touch-sensitive OSD controls integrated into the bezel. Use these controls to navigate and adjust display settings.

  • Menu Button: Accesses the main OSD menu.
  • Navigation Buttons: Use the arrow icons to move through menu options.
  • Select/Enter Button: Confirms selections or enters sub-menus.
  • Exit Button: Returns to the previous menu or exits the OSD.

5.3 Input Selection

To switch between video inputs (DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI-D, VGA), access the OSD menu and navigate to the "Input" or "Source" section. Select your desired input.

5.4 Picture Adjustments

Within the OSD menu, you can adjust various picture settings:

  • Brightness/Contrast: Adjust the overall luminance and difference between light and dark areas.
  • Color Settings: Modify color temperature, gamma, and individual RGB levels.
  • Sharpness: Adjust the clarity of image details.

5.5 Control Sync Technology

For multi-monitor setups, Control Sync technology allows you to control settings for up to six EA245WMI displays simultaneously. Designate one display as the master unit. Connect the DisplayPort 1.2 out from the master to the DisplayPort 1.2 in of the next display in the chain. Once configured, adjustments made on the master display will propagate to the linked displays.

5.6 Smart Sensing Technology

The display incorporates ambient light and human sensors to automatically adjust brightness. This feature optimizes power consumption and viewing comfort. Enable or disable this function through the OSD menu under "Eco Mode" or "Sensors."

5.7 Spectra View II Calibration

For precise color accuracy, use the included Spectra View II software and color calibration sensor. Install the software on your computer and follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate your display. This process ensures consistent and accurate color reproduction.

6. Connectivity

The NEC MultiSync EA245WMI-BK-SV offers a comprehensive range of connectivity options:

  • DisplayPort 1.2 In/Out: Primary digital video input, supporting multi-stream transport (MST) for daisy-chaining multiple displays.
  • HDMI: High-Definition Multimedia Interface for digital video and audio input.

7. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your display.

  • Cleaning the Screen: Gently wipe the screen with a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn marks, lightly dampen the cloth with water or a specialized screen cleaner (non-ammonia based). Do not spray liquid directly onto the screen.
  • Cleaning the Casing: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the display casing.

  • Power Off: Always power off and unplug the display before performing any cleaning or maintenance.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your display, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Power:
    • Ensure the power cord is securely connected to the display and a working electrical outlet.
    • Check if the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
    • Press the power button on the display.
  • No Image/Signal:
    • Verify that the video cable (DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI-D, VGA) is securely connected to both the display and your computer.
    • Ensure the correct input source is selected via the OSD menu.
    • Check your computer's display settings to ensure the monitor is detected and enabled.
    • Try a different video cable or port if available.
  • Image is Distorted or Incorrect Resolution:
    • Set your computer's display resolution to the native resolution of 1920 x 1200.
    • Adjust the refresh rate to 56 Hz (or compatible).
    • Check the video cable for damage.
  • OSD Menu Not Responding:
    • Ensure no objects are obstructing the touch-sensitive controls.
    • Power cycle the display (turn off, unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug in, turn on).
  • USB Ports Not Working:
