For optimal effectiveness, place interceptors under all legs of the furniture you wish to protect. This includes any central support legs.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, the interceptors work continuously to detect and trap bed bugs. Here’s how they function and what to expect:

• Detection: Bed bugs attempting to reach the furniture will crawl up the textured outer surface of the interceptor and fall into the outer well. Bed bugs attempting to leave the furniture will fall into the inner well.
• Trapping Mechanism: The smooth, steep inner walls of both wells prevent bed bugs from climbing out once they are trapped.
• Monitoring: Regularly inspect the interceptors, ideally every few days or weekly, to check for trapped insects. This allows for early detection of an infestation or confirmation of ongoing activity.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the continued effectiveness of your interceptors:

• Cleaning: If bed bugs are found, carefully remove the interceptor. Dispose of trapped bugs by flushing them down a toilet or sealing them in a plastic bag before discarding. Clean the interceptor with soap and water, ensuring the inner walls remain smooth and free of debris.
• Re-powdering (Optional): Some users find that applying a thin layer of talcum powder or diatomaceous earth to the inner well can enhance trapping by making the surface even more slippery. Ensure the powder is evenly distributed and does not create a bridge for bugs to cross.

  • Powder Application: If using powder, ensure it's a very thin, even layer. Too much can create a climbing surface.
• Furniture Stability:
  • Leg Fit: Ensure furniture legs fit securely within the central well. The interceptors are designed to be durable and support heavy furniture.
  • Floor Type: On very smooth floors, furniture might shift slightly. The textured base design helps distribute weight and prevent scratches.
