Setup and Initial Configuration

Setting the Time and Date

Your G-Shock GA-700 watch requires initial time and date setting. Follow these steps:

1. Enter Timekeeping Mode: Ensure the watch is in the regular Timekeeping Mode. If not, press the MODE button (bottom left) repeatedly until the current time and date are displayed.
2. Enter Setting Mode: Press and hold the ADJUST button (top left) for about two seconds until the city code starts to flash on the digital display. This indicates the setting mode.
3. Select Time Zone/City Code: Use the RESET button (top right) and START button (bottom right) to scroll through city codes. Select your desired home city.
4. Adjust Daylight Saving Time (DST): Press the MODE button to move to the DST setting. Use the RESET button to toggle DST ON or OFF.
5. Set Time and Date: Continue pressing the MODE button to cycle through settings: 12/24-hour format, seconds, hour, minute, year, month, and day. Use the RESET and START buttons to adjust each value.
6. Exit Setting Mode: Once all settings are correct, press the ADJUST button to exit the setting mode and save your changes. The watch hands will automatically adjust to the set digital time.

Adjusting the Band

The resin band is designed for comfort and durability. To adjust the fit, use the buckle closure and select the appropriate hole for your wrist size. Ensure the watch is snug but not uncomfortably tight to allow for proper blood circulation and prevent skin irritation.

Operating the Watch

Mode Functions

Press the MODE button (bottom left) to cycle through the following modes:

• Timekeeping Mode: Displays current time (analog and digital), day of the week, and date.
• World Time Mode: Allows you to view the current time in 31 time zones (48 cities + Coordinated Universal Time). Use the RESET and START buttons to scroll through cities.
• Stopwatch Mode: Features a 1/100-second stopwatch with a measuring capacity of 23:59'59.99''. Press START to begin/stop, and RESET to reset.
• Countdown Timer Mode: A countdown timer with a 1-second measuring unit and a countdown range of 1 minute to 60 minutes.
• Alarm Mode: Set up to 5 daily alarms and an hourly time signal.

Using the LED Light (Super Illuminator)

Press the large front button (at 6 o'clock position) to illuminate the watch face. The Super Illuminator provides bright LED lighting for easy reading in the dark. The light duration can be configured in the settings.

Hand Shift Feature

If the analog hands obstruct the digital display, press the MODE button and the START button simultaneously. The hands will temporarily move to a position that does not block the digital display. Press any button again to return the hands to normal timekeeping.

Maintenance and Care

• Water Resistance: While water-resistant to 200 meters, avoid operating buttons underwater to prevent water ingress. Rinse the watch with fresh water after exposure to saltwater.
• Cleaning: Wipe the watch and band with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and moisture. For stubborn grime, use a mild soap solution and a soft brush, then rinse thoroughly and dry.
• Temperature Exposure: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures (hot or cold) for prolonged periods, as this can affect its accuracy and battery life.
• Chemicals: Keep the watch away from gasoline, cleaning solvents, aerosols, adhesives, paints, etc., as these can cause discoloration or damage to the resin components.
• Battery Replacement: The watch operates on a CR123A battery. When the display becomes dim or functions become erratic, it's time for a battery replacement. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by an authorized Casio service center to ensure water resistance is maintained.
