4. Operating Instructions

Once properly wired, the DROK 5V to 12V Step Up Converter operates automatically to provide a stable 12V output.

  1. Connect Input Power: Apply a DC voltage between 5V and 11V to the input (red and black wires).
  2. Connect Load: Connect your 12V device to the output (yellow and black wires).
  3. Verify Output: The converter will automatically regulate the output to 12V. You can use a multimeter to verify the output voltage if necessary.
  4. Overload Protection: If the connected load exceeds 3A (36W), the device is designed to shut off the output to protect itself. Remove the input voltage briefly and reduce the load before reapplying power to restore normal operation.

5. Maintenance

The DROK 5V to 12V Step Up Converter is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DROK Step Up Converter, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No output voltage / Device not powering on
  • Incorrect input voltage (outside 5-11V range).
  • Loose or incorrect wiring connections.
  • Overload protection activated.
  • Faulty input power source.
  • Verify input voltage is within 5-11V.
  • Check all wiring for correct polarity and secure connections.
  • Disconnect the load, remove input power for a few seconds, then reconnect. Reduce load if it exceeds 3A/36W.
  • Test the input power source with a multimeter.
Output voltage is unstable or incorrect
  • Input voltage fluctuations.
  • Load exceeding maximum capacity.
  • Damaged unit.
  • Ensure input power source is stable.
  • Reduce the connected load to stay within 3A/36W.
  • If issues persist after checking input and load, the unit may be faulty. Refer to warranty information.
Unit becomes excessively hot
  • Operating near maximum load for extended periods.
  • Insufficient ventilation.
  • Ensure the load does not consistently exceed the rated 3A/36W.
  • Provide adequate airflow around the unit.
