2. Safety Information

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
2. Insert the required batteries (e.g., 2 x 1.5V AAA) according to the polarity markings (+/-).
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 App Installation and Bluetooth Pairing

1. Download the free "Beurer HealthManager Pro" app from your smartphone's app store (available for Android and iOS).
2. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone.
3. Follow the instructions within the app to pair your BC 85 monitor. The app will guide you through the pairing process.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Applying the Cuff

• Ensure the cuff is suitable for your wrist circumference (13.5 to 23 cm).
• Place the monitor on your left wrist with the display facing upwards. The cuff should be positioned approximately 1-2 cm above your hand.
• Fasten the cuff snugly but not too tightly. There should be enough space to insert one finger between the cuff and your wrist.

6.2 Correct Positioning for Measurement

• Sit comfortably with your back supported and feet flat on the floor.
• Place your arm on a table so that the monitor is at the same level as your heart.
• The integrated positioning indicator on the device will guide you. Adjust your wrist position until the indicator shows correct alignment. This helps prevent measurement errors.

6.3 Taking a Measurement

1. Press the START/STOP button to begin the measurement.
2. The cuff will inflate automatically. The device uses inflation technology, meaning it measures during inflation, which can be quicker and more comfortable.
3. Remain still and do not talk during the measurement.
4. Once the measurement is complete, your systolic and diastolic blood pressure values, along with your pulse rate, will be displayed.

6.4 Understanding Measurement Results

• The device features a colored scale to classify your blood pressure readings according to WHO guidelines.
• Green indicates optimal blood pressure, yellow indicates normal, orange indicates high-normal, and red indicates hypertension.

6.5 Memory Functions and Data Transfer

• The BC 85 stores 2 x 60 memory locations for two different users.
• It automatically calculates the average value of all stored readings, as well as morning and evening blood pressure for the last 7 days.
• Measured values are automatically transferred to the "Beurer HealthManager Pro" app via Bluetooth, allowing for long-term tracking and management of your data.
• From the app, you can share your readings with your doctor if desired.

• Error E2, E4, E6: These errors often indicate issues with cuff application (too tight or too loose), movement during measurement, or irregular pulse. Ensure the cuff is applied correctly and you remain still.
• Inaccurate Readings: Ensure correct wrist positioning at heart level using the indicator. Avoid talking or moving during measurement. Rest for 5 minutes before measuring. If readings remain inconsistent, consult your doctor.
• No Display: Check battery installation and replace batteries if necessary.
• Bluetooth Connection Issues: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone and the app is open. Try restarting both the monitor and your smartphone.
