4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation and Removal

The DCD795N operates with DEWALT 18V XR Li-Ion battery packs (not included). Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.

  1. To Install: Align the battery pack with the receptacle on the tool's handle. Slide the battery pack firmly into the tool until it locks into place.
  2. To Remove: Press the battery release button (usually located on the front of the battery pack) and pull the battery pack out of the tool.

4.2. Chuck Operation and Bit Installation

The keyless chuck allows for quick and easy bit changes.

  1. To Open Chuck: Grasp the rear sleeve of the chuck with one hand and rotate the front sleeve counter-clockwise until the chuck jaws are open wide enough to accept the bit.
  2. To Install Bit: Insert the drill bit or screwdriver bit fully into the chuck jaws.
  3. To Close Chuck: Grasp the rear sleeve and rotate the front sleeve clockwise until the bit is securely clamped. Hand-tighten firmly.

4.3. Attaching the Belt Hook

The belt hook can be attached to either side of the tool for convenience.

  1. Align the belt hook with the screw hole on the desired side of the tool.
  2. Secure it with the provided screw using a screwdriver.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Mode Selection

The DCD795N features a collar for selecting the operating mode:

  • Screwdriving Mode (T symbol): For driving screws. Adjust the torque collar to the desired setting (1-15) to prevent overtightening or stripping.
  • Drilling Mode (Drill Bit symbol): For drilling into wood, metal, and plastics. This mode provides maximum torque.
  • Hammer Drilling Mode (Hammer symbol): For drilling into masonry and concrete. This mode engages the hammer mechanism.

5.2. Speed Selection

The tool has a two-speed gearbox, controlled by a slide switch on top of the tool:

  • Speed 1 (Low Speed): For high torque applications, such as driving large screws or drilling large diameter holes. (0-600 RPM)
  • Speed 2 (High Speed): For faster drilling and general screwdriving applications. (0-2000 RPM)

Always select the appropriate speed before starting the tool.

5.3. Forward/Reverse Control

The forward/reverse selector switch is located above the trigger. Push it to the left for forward rotation (drilling/screwing in) and to the right for reverse rotation (removing screws/bits). Center position locks the trigger for safety.

5.4. Trigger Switch and Variable Speed

The tool's speed is controlled by the pressure applied to the trigger switch. Pressing the trigger further increases the speed. The integrated LED work light activates when the trigger is pressed.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your tool. Always disconnect the battery pack before performing any maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft brush or dry cloth to clean the ventilation slots and housing regularly. Do not use water or chemical cleaning agents.
