5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Triggering

Once paired, the V6llS will trigger your remote flashes when your camera's shutter button is pressed. The operating range is up to 300 feet.

5.2 High-Speed Sync (HSS) Modes

The V6llS supports HSS for Sony cameras and flashes, allowing you to use flash at shutter speeds above your camera's native sync speed (up to 1/8000s). It features two HSS modes:

  • Normal HSS: Standard high-speed synchronization.
  • Power Sync: Boosts flash contribution at high shutter speeds, ideal for challenging lighting conditions where normal HSS might be insufficient.

Access and select HSS modes through the device's menu.

5.3 Remote Power Control and Zoom Angle

The V6llS allows you to remotely adjust the power output and zoom angle of compatible Sony system flashes. When triggering Cactus V6 II units, it extends this control to various cross-brand flashes.

  1. Use the control buttons and dial to navigate to the desired flash group.
  2. Select the power level or zoom setting you wish to adjust.
  3. Rotate the dial to change the value.

5.4 Multi-Master Functionality

The V6llS supports multi-master setups, allowing multiple transceivers to control the same group of flashes. This is useful for complex lighting arrangements or when multiple photographers are working together.

5.5 AF-Assist

The built-in AF-assist light helps your camera achieve focus in low-light conditions. This feature can be enabled or disabled via the device settings.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

To clean the V6llS, use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, which can damage the device's finish or electronics.

6.2 Battery Care

  • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Use high-quality AA alkaline or rechargeable batteries.
  • Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries.

6.3 Storage

Store the V6llS in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the original packaging or a protective case to prevent dust and physical damage.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device not powering on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are fresh.
  • Flashes not triggering: Verify that the V6llS and all remote flashes are on the same channel and group. Ensure the V6llS is securely mounted on the camera's hot shoe. Check the operating range.
  • HSS not working: Confirm that your camera and flash support HSS. Ensure the V6llS is paired with a Sony camera for HSS functionality with Sony flashes.
  • Remote control issues: Ensure line of sight between the V6llS and remote flashes where possible. Check for interference from other wireless devices.
  • Display not working: Try replacing batteries. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
