Operating Instructions

Opening the Blade (SpeedSafe Assisted Opening)

The Kershaw Flock 1330 features SpeedSafe assisted opening for quick and easy blade deployment.

  1. Hold the knife firmly with one hand, ensuring your fingers are clear of the blade path.
  2. Place your index finger on the flipper tab located on the spine of the handle near the pivot.
  3. Apply a quick, firm push downward on the flipper tab. The SpeedSafe mechanism will assist the blade in rotating open until it locks into place.
  4. Verify that the liner lock is fully engaged, securing the blade in the open position.

Closing the Blade

To safely close the blade:

  1. Ensure your fingers are clear of the blade's path.
  2. Locate the liner lock, which is a metal bar inside the handle that has shifted behind the blade's tang.
  3. Using your thumb, push the liner lock firmly to the side, away from the blade's tang. This disengages the lock.
  4. While holding the liner lock disengaged, gently fold the blade back into the handle until it is fully closed and secured.

  2. Reposition the clip to your desired carry orientation and side.

Cleaning

  • After each use, especially if exposed to dirt, moisture, or corrosive materials, clean the blade and handle.
  • Use a soft cloth or brush with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a clean, soft cloth. Ensure no moisture remains in the pivot area or handle.
  • Product Care Instructions: Hand Wash Only.

Lubrication

  • Periodically apply a small amount of high-quality knife oil to the pivot area to maintain smooth blade action.
  • Open and close the blade a few times to distribute the oil, then wipe off any excess.

Sharpening

  • A sharp blade is a safe blade. Sharpen your knife regularly using a suitable sharpening system (e.g., ceramic rods, diamond stones, or a pull-through sharpener).
