Setup
1. Connecting the Base Station
The Gigaset A116 offers simple installation. Follow these steps to connect your base station:
- Connect the power adapter to the base station and then to a wall outlet.
- Connect the telephone cable to the base station and then to your telephone wall socket or router.
- Route the cables neatly to avoid obstruction.

2. Inserting Batteries into the Handset
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the handset.
- Insert the two supplied AAA (NiMH) rechargeable batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover.
3. Charging the Handset
Place the handset in the base station. The charging process will begin automatically. For optimal battery performance, charge the handset for at least 6 hours before its first use.
Operating the Phone
Basic Call Functions
- Making a Call: Enter the phone number using the keypad and press the green call key ☎.
- Answering a Call: When the phone rings, press the green call key ☎.
- Ending a Call: Press the red end call key ✆.
Phonebook
The phonebook can store up to 50 entries.
- Adding an Entry: Press the MENU key, navigate to 'Phonebook' or 'Directory', select 'New Entry', enter the name and number, then save.
- Calling from Phonebook: Press the MENU key, navigate to 'Phonebook', select the desired entry, and press the green call key ☎.
Volume Adjustment
During a call, you can adjust the earpiece volume using the navigation keys. There are 5 volume levels available.
Ringtone Melodies
You can choose from 10 selectable ringtone melodies. Access this setting through the MENU to personalize your phone's ringtone.
Missed Calls
The display will show a message indicating any missed calls. You can access the call list through the MENU to view details of missed calls and return them.
