Operating Modes

The TROND BT-DUO S supports two primary operating modes: Transmitter (TX) and Receiver (RX). Ensure the mode switch is set correctly before powering on the device.

1. Transmitter Mode (TX)

In TX mode, the TROND BT-DUO S transmits audio wirelessly from non-Bluetooth devices (e.g., TV, iPod, MP3 player) to Bluetooth-enabled headphones or speakers.

  1. Set the mode switch to TX before powering on.
  2. Connect the TROND BT-DUO S to your audio source's 3.5mm audio output port using the provided audio cable. If your TV only has a digital optical audio out, you will need a different TROND model (BT-DUO X).
  3. Power on the device by pressing and holding the Multi-Function Button (MFB) for 3 seconds until the blue LED flashes twice quickly.
  4. For first-time pairing, the device will automatically enter pairing mode (blue and red LEDs flash alternately). For subsequent pairings, quickly double-tap the MFB to enter pairing mode.
  5. Put your Bluetooth headphones or speaker into pairing mode.
  6. Once successfully paired, the blue LED on the TROND BT-DUO S will stay solid.

  1. Set the mode switch to RX before powering on.
  2. Connect the TROND BT-DUO S to your wired headphones or speaker's 3.5mm audio input port using the provided audio cable.

Advanced Features

Dual Stream (TX Mode) / Multi-Point (RX Mode)

The TROND BT-DUO S supports connecting to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously in TX mode (Dual Stream) and two source devices in RX mode (Multi-Point). However, when connecting to two devices in TX mode, the audio codec will be downgraded to SBC to ensure compatibility.

Maintenance and Care

  • Keep the device dry. Do not expose it to moisture or extreme temperatures.
  • Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the device to strong impacts.

Troubleshooting

Device not powering on:

  • Ensure the device is fully charged.
  • Press and hold the MFB for at least 3 seconds.

Cannot pair with a device:

  • Ensure the TROND BT-DUO S is in the correct mode (TX or RX) for your intended use.
  • Make sure both devices are in pairing mode and within close proximity (within 10 meters/33 feet).
  • Clear previous pairing records on both the TROND BT-DUO S and your target device. To reset TROND BT-DUO S, refer to the "Frequent Asked Questions" section in the original user manual (if available).
  • Restart both devices and try pairing again.

No audio or poor audio quality:

  • Check all cable connections to ensure they are secure.
  • Verify that the audio source is playing and its volume is turned up.
  • Ensure the volume on the receiving device (headphones/speakers) is also turned up.
  • If experiencing latency in TX mode, ensure your receiving Bluetooth headphones/speakers also support aptX Low Latency. Otherwise, the codec will revert to aptX or SBC, which have higher latencies.
  • Avoid placing the device near sources of interference (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, microwaves).

Device gets stuck or buttons stop working:

  • Press and hold the MFB, then plug in the external USB charger to shut down the BT-DUO S. This will not delete pairing records.
