Setup and First Use

1. Unpack all components and remove any packaging materials.
2. Wash the inner pot, glass lid, steam tray, measuring cup, and spatula thoroughly with warm, soapy water. Rinse well and dry completely.
3. Wipe the exterior of the main rice cooker unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
4. Place the rice cooker on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from walls or cabinets to allow for proper ventilation.
5. Ensure the power cord is not tangled or obstructed.

Operating Instructions

Cooking Rice

1. Measure the desired amount of rice using the provided measuring cup. One cup of uncooked rice typically yields about two cups of cooked rice.
2. Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear.
3. Place the rinsed rice into the non-stick inner pot.
4. Add the appropriate amount of water. A general ratio is 1:1 for white rice (1 cup rice to 1 cup water), but refer to rice packaging for specific instructions. For softer rice, add slightly more water; for firmer rice, add slightly less.
5. Place the inner pot into the main rice cooker unit, ensuring it is seated properly.
6. Cover the inner pot with the glass lid.
7. Plug the power cord into a 120V / 60Hz electrical outlet. The "WARM" indicator light will illuminate.
8. Press the COOK switch down. The "COOK" indicator light will illuminate, and cooking will begin.
9. Once the rice is cooked, the cooker will automatically switch to the "WARM" mode, and the "WARM" indicator light will illuminate. Allow the rice to rest in "WARM" mode for 5-10 minutes before serving for best results.
10. Unplug the rice cooker from the outlet when done.

Steaming Food

The NARITA NRC-150 allows you to steam vegetables, dumplings, or other foods simultaneously with rice cooking, or independently.

1. If steaming with rice, follow steps 1-6 for cooking rice.
2. Place the food to be steamed into the steam tray. Ensure food is cut into uniform pieces for even cooking.
3. Place the steam tray onto the inner pot (above the rice and water, if cooking rice).
4. Cover with the glass lid.
5. Proceed with cooking as described in the "Cooking Rice" section. The steam generated from the cooking rice will cook the food in the steam tray.
6. If steaming independently, add water to the inner pot (enough to generate steam without boiling dry). Place the steam tray with food into the inner pot. Cover with the lid and press the COOK switch. Monitor water level and food doneness.
7. Once steaming is complete, carefully remove the steam tray using oven mitts or a cloth, as it will be hot.
