  • ANT IN: Connect your outdoor or indoor antenna here.
  • ANT OUT (Loop Through): Connect to the antenna input of your TV if you wish to use the TV's tuner for analog channels or another digital tuner.
  • HDMI OUT: Connect to an HDMI input on your TV for high-definition video and audio.
  • RCA (L/R Audio, Video): Connect to the corresponding RCA inputs on your TV for standard definition video and stereo audio.
  • DC IN: Connect the power adapter here.

Remote Control

The included remote control provides full functionality for navigating menus, changing channels, adjusting volume, and accessing special features. It requires 2 AA batteries (not included).

Setup

  1. Connect Antenna: Connect your outdoor or indoor antenna to the ANT IN port on the rear of the converter.
  2. Connect to TV:
    • For HDMI Connection (Recommended): Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT port on the converter to an available HDMI input on your television.
    • For RCA Connection: Connect RCA cables (yellow for video, white for left audio, red for right audio) from the converter's RCA outputs to the corresponding RCA inputs on your television.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the DC IN port on the converter, then plug the adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
  4. Insert Batteries into Remote: Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote control and insert 2 AA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
  5. Power On: Turn on your television and select the correct input source (HDMI or AV) that corresponds to your connection. Then, power on the Coby CSTB-600 converter using the remote control or the power button on the unit.
  6. Initial Channel Scan:

    Upon first power-on, the converter will likely prompt you to perform an automatic channel scan. Follow the on-screen instructions. If not prompted, navigate to the "Channel Search" or "Auto Scan" option in the main menu to scan for available digital channels. This process may take several minutes.

Operating Instructions

Basic Operation

  • Channel Selection: Use the CH+/CH- buttons or the number pad on the remote to change channels.
  • Volume Control: Use the VOL+/VOL- buttons on the remote to adjust the audio volume.
  • Menu Navigation: Press the MENU button to access the main menu. Use the arrow keys (▲▼◀▶) to navigate and OK to confirm selections.
  • Electronic Program Guide (EPG): Press the EPG button to view program information and schedules for available channels.

Recording Live TV (PVR Function)

To record live TV, you will need a USB storage device (e.g., USB flash drive or external hard drive) connected to the USB port on the front of the converter. Ensure the USB device is formatted correctly (FAT32 or NTFS).

  1. Connect your USB storage device to the converter's USB port.
  2. Tune to the channel you wish to record.
  3. Press the REC button on the remote control to start recording. A recording indicator will appear on the screen.
  4. Press the STOP button to end the recording.
  5. To schedule recordings, access the EPG and select a program, then choose the record option, or use the "Timer" function in the main menu.

USB Multimedia Playback

The converter supports playback of various media files (movies, pictures, music) from a connected USB storage device.

  1. Connect your USB storage device containing media files to the converter's USB port.
  2. Press the USB button on the remote or navigate to the "Multimedia" section in the main menu.
  3. Select the desired media type (Movie, Music, Photo) and browse your files.
  4. Select a file and press OK to begin playback.

Parental Controls

Parental controls allow you to restrict access to certain channels or programs based on rating. This feature typically requires a PIN to activate and modify settings.

  1. Access the "Parental Control" section in the main menu.
  2. Enter your PIN (default is often 0000 or 1234, check on-screen prompts).
  3. Configure age ratings or block specific channels as desired.

Closed Captioning

The Coby CSTB-600 supports closed captioning for programs that broadcast this feature. To enable or disable closed captions, look for the "CC" button on your remote or navigate to the "System Settings" or "Accessibility" menu.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the converter. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays.
