Setup

1. Unpacking

Carefully remove the FR-N3X unit from its packaging. Ensure all accessories, such as the power cord and remote control (if included), are present. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage.

2. Placement

Place the unit on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive dust or moisture. Allow adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.

3. Speaker Connections

Connect your speakers to the speaker terminals on the rear of the FR-N3X. Ensure correct polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative) for each speaker. Use appropriate speaker wire for optimal sound quality.

4. Audio Input Connections

If connecting external audio sources (e.g., a cassette deck, turntable with pre-amp), use the analog LINE or CDR/TAPE input terminals on the rear of the unit. For digital audio sources, use the optical digital input.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Operation

• Power On/Off: Press the POWER button on the front panel or remote control.
• Source Selection: Use the FUNCTION/INPUT selector to choose between CD, MD, TUNER (FM/AM), LINE, or CDR/TAPE inputs.
• Volume Control: Adjust the VOLUME knob on the front panel or use the volume buttons on the remote control.

2. CD Player Operation

1. Press the CD button or select CD as the source.
2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the CD tray.
3. Place a CD with the label side up on the tray and press OPEN/CLOSE again to close it.
4. Press PLAY to start playback. Use SKIP buttons for track navigation and PAUSE/STOP as needed.

3. MD Player/Recorder Operation

1. Press the MD button or select MD as the source.
2. Insert an MD into the MD slot.
3. Playback: Press PLAY to start playback. Use SKIP buttons for track navigation.
4. Recording: Select the desired input source (e.g., CD, TUNER, LINE). Press the RECORD button on the unit or remote. The unit will enter record-pause mode. Press PLAY to begin recording.

Note: The MD section supports LP2 and LP4 modes for extended recording times. Maximum recording time is approximately 320 minutes using an 80-minute disc in LP4 mode.

4. Tuner Operation (FM/AM)

1. Press the TUNER button or select TUNER as the source.
2. Press the BAND button to switch between FM and AM.
3. Use the TUNING buttons to manually tune to a station or press and hold for automatic scanning.
4. To preset stations, tune to the desired station, then press MEMORY followed by a preset number button.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Unit

Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, dampen the cloth with a mild detergent solution and then wipe dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners, alcohol, benzene, or thinners, as these can damage the finish.

Disc Care

Handle CDs and MDs by their edges. Keep them clean and free from scratches. Store discs in their cases when not in use.
