1. Overview

The Kestrel Drop D3FW Fire Weather Monitor is a wireless, rugged, and waterproof environmental data logger designed to monitor and track critical weather conditions. It records temperature, humidity, heat index, dew point temperature, station pressure, and wet bulb temperature. The device stores thousands of data points and allows customization of logging rates and temperature alerts. 2. Setup

2.1 Battery Installation

The Kestrel Drop D3FW requires one CR2032 Lithium Metal battery for operation. Ensure the battery is fresh and genuine for optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
  2. Use a small coin or screwdriver to carefully twist open the battery cover.
  3. Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  4. Replace the battery cover and twist to secure it firmly.

2.2 Kestrel Link App Download and Device Pairing

To access and manage data from your Kestrel Drop D3FW, download the Kestrel Link app on your mobile device.

  1. Download the Kestrel Link app from the Apple App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play Store (for Android devices).
  2. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
  3. Open the Kestrel Link app. The app will automatically search for nearby Kestrel Drop devices.
  4. Select your Kestrel Drop D3FW from the list of available devices to pair. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process.

3. Operation

3.1 Data Monitoring

Once paired, the Kestrel Link app provides real-time environmental data from your D3FW monitor. The dashboard view displays current readings for temperature, humidity, heat index, dew point, station pressure, and wet bulb temperature.

3.2 Logging and Alerts

The Kestrel Drop D3FW continuously logs data. You can customize the logging rate through the Kestrel Link app settings. Additionally, the app allows you to set specific temperature alerts, notifying you if conditions exceed or fall below predefined thresholds.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Battery Replacement

When the battery level is low, replace the CR2032 battery following the steps outlined in Section 2.1. Using genuine, fresh batteries is recommended to ensure consistent performance and prevent premature battery depletion.

4.2 Cleaning and Storage

To maintain the accuracy and longevity of your Kestrel Drop D3FW:

  • Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt or debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
