1. Safety Instructions
Read all safety warnings and instructions carefully before using the battery charger. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
- Always ensure the charger is disconnected from the mains supply before making or breaking connections to the battery.
- Use the charger only for charging 12V lead-acid batteries (wet, gel, AGM) with a capacity of 5-200 Ah.
- Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
- Ensure adequate ventilation during charging to prevent the accumulation of explosive gases.
- Protect the charger from rain and moisture. Do not operate the charger in damp or wet conditions.
- Keep children and unauthorized persons away from the charging area.
- The charger features overload, reverse polarity, and short circuit protection. However, always ensure correct polarity connection.
2. Product Overview

Figure 1: Front view of the Einhell Battery Charger CC-BC 10 E, showing the ammeter and connection terminals.
Key Components:
- Mains Cable with Plug: For connecting to the power supply.
- Charging Cables with Robust Clamps: For connecting to the battery terminals.
- Ammeter: Displays the current charging rate.
- Carry Handle: For easy transport.
- Housing: Durable sheet steel construction.
3. Setup and Connection
Follow these steps to safely connect the battery charger to your vehicle battery:
- Ensure the vehicle ignition is switched off and all electrical consumers are turned off.
- Locate the vehicle battery. Ensure the battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion.
- Connect the red (+) charging clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
- Connect the black (-) charging clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the battery. If the battery is installed in the vehicle, connect the black clamp to the vehicle chassis away from the battery and fuel line.

- Once the clamps are securely connected, plug the charger's mains cable into a suitable 120V AC power outlet.
4. Operating Instructions
The Einhell CC-BC 10 E features electronic charging and automatic charging functionality, simplifying the charging process.
Charging Process:
- After connecting the charger to the battery and mains power, the charging process begins automatically.
- The integrated ammeter (Figure 4) will indicate the charging current. The needle will gradually drop as the battery charges.
Figure 4: The ammeter displays the current charging rate. The scale indicates amperes.
Figure 5: The charger is suitable for various 12V applications, indicated by the car, truck, motorcycle, and boat icons.
- The automatic charging feature prevents overcharging, ensuring the battery is charged safely and efficiently.
Figure 6: Automatic charging ensures the battery is fully charged without risk of overcharging.
Disconnection:
- Once charging is complete (ammeter shows minimal current or battery voltage is stable), first disconnect the charger from the mains power outlet.
- Then, disconnect the black (-) charging clamp from the battery's negative terminal or vehicle chassis.
- Finally, disconnect the red (+) charging clamp from the battery's positive terminal.
5. Protection Features
The Einhell CC-BC 10 E is equipped with multiple safety features to protect both the charger and the battery:
- Overload Protection: Prevents damage from excessive current.
- Reverse Polarity Protection: Protects against incorrect connection of the clamps to the battery terminals.
- Short Circuit Protection: Safeguards against accidental short circuits.

6. Maintenance
To ensure long-term performance and safety of your battery charger, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Always disconnect the charger from the mains power before cleaning or maintenance.
- Clean the charger housing with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspect the charging cables and clamps regularly for any signs of damage or wear. Replace damaged components immediately.
- Store the charger in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Einhell Battery Charger, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Charger not operating (no ammeter reading) | No mains power; Incorrect battery connection; Blown fuse. | Check mains power supply; Verify correct polarity (+ to +, - to -); Check and replace internal fuse if necessary (refer to specifications for fuse type). |
| Ammeter shows very low current | Battery is nearly fully charged; Battery is deeply discharged or faulty. | This is normal if the battery is almost full. If battery is deeply discharged, it may take longer to show significant current. Test battery condition if charging does not progress. |
| Charger gets warm during operation | Normal operation; Poor ventilation. | Some warmth is normal. Ensure the charger is in a well-ventilated area and not covered. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, contact customer support.
