Instapark IN07A Water Leakage Alarm User Manual

Introduction

The Instapark IN07A is a battery-powered, stand-alone water leakage detection alarm designed to alert you to the presence of water, helping to prevent potential property damage and associated risks. This device features a main alarm unit with a loud siren and a water detection sensor connected by a 44-inch wire. This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your IN07A water alarm.

Product Overview

The Instapark IN07A water leakage alarm consists of the following main components:

  • Main Alarm Unit: Houses the siren and battery compartment. It can be mounted using a built-in suction cup or adhesive tape.
  • Water Detection Sensor: A small probe connected to the main unit by a 44-inch wire. This sensor detects water.
  • Bottom Plate: An optional accessory for the sensor, designed to secure it in place and potentially adjust sensitivity.
  • 9V Alkaline Battery: Powers the device.

Setup

  1. Install Battery: Open the battery compartment on the main alarm unit and insert one 9V alkaline battery (included). Ensure correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
  2. Sensor Placement: Place the water detection sensor on the floor or any flat surface in the area you wish to monitor for leaks. Common locations include:
    • Under-the-sink cabinets (kitchens, bathrooms)
    • Near water heaters or sump pumps
    • Adjacent to toilets, washing machines, or dishwashers
    • Under humidifiers or air conditioning units
    • Near ice-making refrigerators
The 44-inch wire allows flexible placement of the sensor relative to the main alarm unit.
  3. Optional Bottom Plate: For added stability or to slightly reduce sensitivity, attach the sensor to the included bottom plate. This can help secure the sensor in a specific position.
  4. Mount Main Alarm Unit: The main alarm unit can be mounted up to 44 inches above the floor. Choose a location where the 130 dB alarm will be clearly audible.
    • Suction Cup: Press the built-in suction cup firmly against a clean, smooth, non-porous surface.
    • Adhesive Tape: Use the included double-sided adhesive foam tape pad to attach the unit to a flat surface.
  5. Test Functionality: Before final deployment, test the alarm by placing the sensor in a small amount of water. The alarm should sound immediately. Remove the sensor from water to ensure the alarm stops.

Operating Instructions

Once set up, the Instapark IN07A operates automatically. The device is designed for continuous monitoring.

  • Water Detection: When the water detection sensor comes into contact with water, even a minimum depth of 1/32 inch, it will trigger the alarm.
  • Alarm Activation: The main alarm unit will emit a loud, piercing 130 dB siren to alert you to the water leakage. This sound is designed to be audible over long distances.
  • Responding to an Alarm:
    1. Immediately locate the source of the alarm.
    2. Identify and address the water leak.
    3. Remove the sensor from the water and thoroughly dry it. The alarm will cease once the sensor is completely dry.

Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: The 9V alkaline battery has a minimum life of 2 years. It is recommended to test the alarm periodically (e.g., every 6-12 months) and replace the battery annually or if the alarm sounds weak during testing.
  • Sensor Cleaning: Keep the water detection sensor clean and free of debris to ensure optimal performance. Wipe it with a dry cloth if it becomes dusty or dirty.
  • Storage: If storing the device for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage.

Troubleshooting

  • Alarm does not sound when water is detected:
    • Check if the 9V battery is correctly installed and has sufficient power. Replace if necessary.
    • Ensure the sensor is making proper contact with the water.
    • Verify the wire connecting the sensor to the main unit is not damaged.
  • Alarm sounds continuously or falsely:
    • Ensure the sensor is completely dry. Even residual moisture can trigger the alarm.
    • Check the environment for high humidity or condensation that might be affecting the sensor.
    • If using the bottom plate, ensure it is clean and not trapping moisture. Removing the bottom plate might increase sensitivity.
  • Alarm unit mounting issues:
    • If the suction cup does not hold, ensure the surface is clean, smooth, and non-porous.
    • If the adhesive tape fails, clean both surfaces thoroughly before reapplication or use a stronger adhesive.
