3. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Autel MaxiPRO MP900-TS scanner:

  1. Unpack the Device: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in the packing list are present.
  2. Charge the Tablet: Connect the power adapter to the tablet's USB Type-C port and plug it into a power outlet. Allow the tablet to charge fully before initial use.
  3. Power On: Press and hold the power button on the tablet to turn it on.
  4. Initial Configuration: Follow the on-screen prompts to select your language, time zone, and Wi-Fi network. Ensure a stable internet connection for software updates.
  5. Register and Update: Create an Autel ID or log in if you already have one. Register your device and perform all available software updates to ensure optimal performance and the latest vehicle coverage.
  6. Connect VCI: Plug the MaxiVCI V150 module into the vehicle's OBDII port. The VCI will establish a Bluetooth connection with the tablet automatically once powered on.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Vehicle Diagnostics

The diagnostic function allows you to read and clear fault codes, view live data, and retrieve ECU information from all available vehicle systems.

  1. Connect to Vehicle: Ensure the VCI is connected to the vehicle's OBDII port and the tablet is paired via Bluetooth.
  2. Select Diagnostics: From the main menu, tap on the "Diagnostics" icon.
  3. Vehicle Identification: The system will attempt to auto-detect the vehicle's VIN. If unsuccessful, you can manually input the VIN or select the vehicle make, model, and year.
  4. System Scan: Choose "Auto Scan" to perform a comprehensive scan of all vehicle systems, or select specific systems for a targeted scan.
  5. Review Results: After the scan, review the detected fault codes (DTCs), live data streams, and ECU information.
  6. Clear Codes: Once repairs are made, select "Clear Codes" to erase the DTCs from the vehicle's memory.

4.2. TPMS Services

The MP900-TS provides complete TPMS solutions, including sensor activation, programming, and relearn procedures.

  1. Access TPMS: From the main menu, tap on the "TPMS" icon.
  2. Sensor Activation: Select "Activate Sensors" to trigger OEM and Autel MX-Sensors (315MHz & 433MHz) and read sensor data like ID, pressure, temperature, and battery status.
  3. Sensor Programming: For new Autel MX-Sensors, select "Program MX-Sensor". You can program up to 16 sensors simultaneously using methods like "Copy by OBD" or "Auto Create".
  4. TPMS Relearn: After replacing sensors or rotating tires, select "TPMS Relearn" and follow the on-screen instructions for Stationary Relearn, Automatic Relearn, or OBD Relearn to match new sensors with the vehicle's ECU.
  5. TPMS Retrofit: This function allows installation of a TPMS system on vehicles not originally equipped with one.

4.3. ECU Coding

ECU Coding allows for advanced vehicle customization and adaptation.

  1. Access ECU Coding: Navigate to the "Service" or "Diagnostics" menu and select the ECU Coding option for the specific vehicle.
  2. Select Function: Choose from options such as Component Matching, ECU Replacement, Retrofit, OE-Setting Customization, or Personalization.
  3. Follow Prompts: The system will guide you through the coding process. Ensure all safety precautions are followed and the vehicle battery is stable.

4.4. Maintenance Services

  1. Select Service: From the main menu, tap on the "Service" icon.
  2. Choose Function: Select the desired service function (e.g., Oil Reset, EPB Reset, BMS Reset).
  3. Execute Procedure: Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the service.

4.5. Bi-Directional Control (Active Tests)

Active tests allow the scanner to send commands to vehicle systems to test component functionality.

  1. Access Active Tests: Within the Diagnostics menu for a specific system, select "Active Test" or "Bi-Directional Control".
  2. Select Component: Choose the component or system you wish to test (e.g., cooling fan activation, window operation, injector buzz test).
  3. Execute Test: Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the test and observe the component's response.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your MaxiPRO MP900-TS.

  • Software Updates: Regularly check for and install software updates via Wi-Fi to ensure the latest vehicle coverage and diagnostic functions.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the tablet screen and body. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the device in its protective carrying case in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Battery Care: Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. For long-term storage, charge the battery to approximately 50-70%.
  • VCI Module: Keep the VCI module clean and free from debris. Ensure its connection pins are not bent or damaged.

6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your MP900-TS.

  • Device Not Powering On:
    • Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the power adapter and allow it to charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on again.
    • If the device still does not power on, contact technical support.
  • VCI Not Connecting to Tablet:
    • Ensure the VCI is properly plugged into the vehicle's OBDII port and the vehicle's ignition is on.
    • Check that Bluetooth is enabled on the tablet.
    • Try restarting both the tablet and the vehicle.
    • Verify that the VCI module is within Bluetooth range of the tablet.
  • Unable to Communicate with Vehicle:
    • Confirm the VCI is securely connected to the OBDII port.
    • Ensure the vehicle's ignition is in the ON position (engine off or running, as required by the specific test).
    • Verify that the vehicle make, model, and year are correctly selected in the diagnostic software.
    • Check for any blown fuses in the vehicle's OBDII circuit.
    • Ensure the diagnostic software is up to date.
  • Slow Performance:
    • Close any unnecessary applications running in the background.
    • Ensure sufficient storage space is available on the device.
    • Perform regular software updates.
