2. Important Safety Instructions
- Electrical Safety: This appliance is designed for 220-240V~ 50/60Hz power supply. Do not use with voltage converters or in regions with different voltage standards (e.g., 110-120V in USA/Canada). Ensure the power cord is not damaged and do not immerse the base, cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
- Hot Surfaces: The kettle body and heating element become very hot during and after operation. Always use the handle and avoid touching hot surfaces. Steam emitted during boiling is also hot.

- Children and Supervision: Keep the appliance out of reach of children. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used by or near children or individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities.
- Placement: Place the kettle on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface away from the edge of the countertop. Do not place near hot gas or electric burners, or in a heated oven.
- Cleaning: Always unplug the kettle from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Refer to the "Maintenance and Cleaning" section for detailed instructions.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and descaling will prolong the life of your WMF LONO Tea and Kettle and ensure optimal performance.
6.1 Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the kettle and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Empty any remaining water or tea.
- Remove the tea infuser (if used) and rinse it thoroughly under running water. For stubborn tea stains, a soft brush can be used.
- Remove the anti-limescale filter from the spout and rinse it. Ensure no tea leaves or debris are trapped.
- Rinse the inside of the kettle with clean water. Due to the wide opening, it is easy to clean.
- Wipe the exterior of the kettle and the power base with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Dry all parts thoroughly before reassembling or storing.
6.2 Descaling
Limescale buildup can affect the kettle's performance and taste of your beverages. Descale regularly, especially in areas with hard water.
- Fill the kettle with approximately 1 liter of water and add a descaling agent suitable for kettles, or a natural alternative like white vinegar or citric acid solution (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water, or 1-2 tablespoons of citric acid powder).
- Bring the solution to a boil (100°C).
- Allow the solution to sit in the kettle for 15-30 minutes, or longer for heavy buildup. For vinegar, you can let it sit overnight.
- Carefully pour out the descaling solution.
- Rinse the kettle thoroughly several times with fresh water to remove any residue and odor.
- Boil fresh water in the kettle 2-3 times and discard the water to ensure all descaling agent is removed before use.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Kettle does not turn on. | Not plugged in; no power; kettle not properly seated on base. | Check power plug and outlet; ensure kettle is correctly placed on the power base. |
| Water not heating or boiling slowly. | Limescale buildup; insufficient water. | Descale the kettle (see Section 6.2); ensure water level is above "min" mark. |
| Kettle switches off too quickly. | Limescale buildup; dry boil protection activated. | Descale the kettle; ensure sufficient water is added. |
| Tea tastes off or weak. | Incorrect temperature/steeping time; old tea leaves; infuser not clean. | Adjust temperature and steeping time according to tea type; use fresh tea leaves; clean tea infuser thoroughly. |
| Loud noise during boiling. | Normal operation; limescale buildup. | Some noise is normal during boiling. If excessive, descale the kettle. |
