For added convenience and safety, the XAG11Z includes an Electric Brake that stops the wheel in 2 seconds or less upon release of the paddle switch.

4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation and Removal
- To Install: Align the battery pack with the housing on the tool. Slide the battery into the tool until it locks into place with a click. Ensure it is fully seated.
- To Remove: Press the release button on the battery pack and slide the battery out of the tool.
4.2. Disc and Guard Installation
Always ensure the battery is removed before changing discs or guards.
- Attaching the Wheel Guard: Select the appropriate wheel guard (grinding or cutting). Align the guard with the spindle housing and rotate it until it clicks into position. The tool-less guard allows for quick adjustments without additional tools.
- Attaching the Disc: Press the spindle lock button to prevent the spindle from rotating. Place the inner flange onto the spindle. Position the desired grinding or cut-off disc onto the inner flange. Thread the lock nut onto the spindle and tighten it securely using the provided lock nut wrench.
4.3. Side Handle Attachment
The side handle can be attached to either side of the gear housing for improved control and comfort, depending on your working position.
- Thread the side handle into one of the threaded holes on the gear housing.
- Tighten the handle firmly by hand.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Powering On/Off
The Makita XAG11Z features a paddle switch for operation.
- To Start: Grip the tool firmly and depress the paddle switch. The tool will start.
- To Stop: Release the paddle switch. The electric brake will engage, stopping the wheel in 2 seconds or less.
5.2. Cutting and Grinding Techniques
Always ensure proper ventilation and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including eye protection, hearing protection, and gloves.
- Grinding: Hold the grinder at an angle of approximately 15-30 degrees to the workpiece. Apply moderate pressure and move the tool smoothly across the surface.
- Cutting: Hold the grinder perpendicular to the workpiece. Allow the disc to reach full speed before making contact. Apply light, consistent pressure and let the disc do the work. Avoid twisting or binding the disc in the cut.
The Automatic Speed Change technology will optimize the tool's performance by adjusting speed and torque based on the load, ensuring efficient material removal.
