Setup

Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure the following items are present:

  • Korg Electribe Synth (ELECTRIBE2BL) unit
  • AC Adapter
  • SD card (2GB)
  • MIDI adapter cable
  • Instruction Manual (this document)

Power Connection

Connect the included AC adapter to the DC 9V port on the rear panel of the Electribe and then to a power outlet. The Electribe can also be powered by 6 AA batteries for portable use.

Audio Connections

Output: Connect the L/MONO and R audio output jacks to your mixer, audio interface, or amplifier using appropriate audio cables.

Input: External audio sources can be connected to the audio input jack for sampling or processing.

Headphones: Connect headphones to the headphone jack for private monitoring.

MIDI Connections

Use the included MIDI adapter cable to connect the Electribe to other MIDI devices or a computer for synchronization and control.

Operating Instructions

Basic Operation

The Electribe features a grid of 16 pads for step sequencing and real-time performance, along with numerous knobs for sound shaping.

Sound Shaping and Filters

Utilize the dedicated knobs for Oscillator, Filter, Modulation, and Amp/EG sections to sculpt your sounds. The Filter section offers various types (LPF, HPF, BPF) to modify the tonal characteristics.

Sequencing and Recording

The Electribe supports both real-time and step recording.

  • Real-time Recording: Press the REC button and play notes on the pads.
  • Step Recording: Use the 16 pads as steps in a sequence.
  • Motion Sequencing: Record knob movements to automate sound changes over time.

Pattern Chaining

Create complex song structures by chaining multiple patterns together. This feature allows for extended arrangements beyond a single pattern's length.

Undo Function

The V2.0 software introduces a one-level undo function, allowing you to quickly revert recent changes if you make a mistake during recording or editing.

Ableton Live Integration

The Electribe is designed for seamless integration with Ableton Live, allowing you to export your patterns and tracks for further production in your DAW.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the unit. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
