3. Initial Setup
3.1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the handset.
- Slide the cover downwards to remove it.
- Connect the battery connector securely into the jack inside the compartment.
- Place the battery into the compartment with the label facing up.
- Slide the battery compartment cover back into place until it clicks.
3.2. Charging the Handset
Before initial use, charge the handset for at least 10 hours. A full charge ensures optimal battery performance.
- Plug the small end of the AC adapter into the power jack on the back of the handset charger.
- Plug the large end of the AC adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
- Place the handset face up in the charger cradle. The CHARGE indicator light on the handset will illuminate, confirming it is charging.

3.3. Registering the Handset
The accessory handset must be registered to your AT&T cordless telephone base unit before use. Refer to your base unit's user manual for specific registration instructions, as procedures may vary slightly between models. A common registration process involves:
- Place the accessory handset in the base unit's charger or directly on the base unit.
- Press and hold the PAGE or HANDSET LOCATOR button on the base unit for approximately 4 seconds. The base unit will enter registration mode.
- On the accessory handset, press the # key. The handset will display "Registering..." or a similar message.
- Once registered, the handset will display "Handset X Registered" (where X is the handset number) and emit a confirmation tone. If registration fails, try again.
4. Operating the Handset
4.1. Making a Call
- Standard Call: Press the PHONE/FLASH button (green phone icon) or SPEAKER, then dial the phone number.
- Pre-dial: Dial the phone number first, then press the PHONE/FLASH button (green phone icon) or SPEAKER.
4.2. Receiving a Call
When the phone rings, press the PHONE/FLASH button (green phone icon) or SPEAKER to answer the call.
4.3. Adjusting Volume
During a call, press the VOLUME up or down buttons on the side of the handset to adjust the earpiece or speakerphone volume.
4.4. Speakerphone
Press the SPEAKER button to activate or deactivate the speakerphone function during a call.
4.5. Redial
Press REDIAL to view the last numbers dialed. Press the PHONE/FLASH button (green phone icon) to call the displayed number.
4.6. Mute
During a call, press MUTE to temporarily silence your microphone. Press MUTE again to unmute.
4.7. Intercom (INT)
If you have multiple registered handsets, press INT to initiate an intercom call to another handset.
4.8. Menu Navigation
Use the SELECT/MENU button and the navigation arrows (up/down on the volume rocker) to access and navigate through the handset's menu options for settings and features.
5. Maintenance
5.1. Cleaning the Handset
Wipe the handset and charger with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use cleaning sprays or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish or electronic components.
5.2. Battery Care
For optimal battery life, keep the handset in the charger when not in use. If the handset will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage.
