Setup Guide

1. Unpacking and Placement

Carefully remove the printer from its packaging. Remove all protective tapes and packing materials from the exterior and interior of the printer. Ensure all orange tapes and plastic inserts are removed from the ink cartridge area and paper trays. Place the printer on a stable, flat surface with adequate space for paper trays and ventilation.

2. Power Connection

Connect the power cord to the printer's power input and then to a wall outlet. Do not connect the USB cable or network cable at this stage unless instructed by the on-screen setup.

3. Ink Cartridge Installation

Open the front cover of the printer to access the ink cartridge compartment. The printer will guide you through the installation process on its display. Insert the provided starter ink cartridges into their corresponding slots, ensuring they click firmly into place. Close the front cover once all cartridges are installed.

4. Paper Loading

The MAXIFY MB2720 features two paper cassettes. Pull out the desired paper cassette (Cassette 1 or Cassette 2) and load plain paper or other media. Adjust the paper guides to fit the paper size snugly. The printer supports various paper sizes including Letter, Legal, 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10 inches. Push the cassette back into the printer until it locks into place.

5. Initial Setup and Network Connection

Turn on the printer using the power button. Follow the on-screen instructions on the printer's touchscreen display to select your language, set the date and time, and perform initial alignment. For wireless connectivity, navigate to the LAN settings on the touchscreen and follow the prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi network. Alternatively, you can connect the printer to your computer via USB or Ethernet for initial setup and driver installation. Operating Instructions

Printing

To print, ensure the printer is powered on and connected to your network or computer. Open the document or image you wish to print on your device. Select the Canon MAXIFY MB2720 from your printer options. Adjust print settings such as paper size, print quality (standard, high, draft), and duplex printing (automatic two-sided printing is supported). Copying

Place the document face down on the scanner glass or face up in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) located on top of the printer. On the touchscreen, select "Copy." Choose your desired copy settings, such as number of copies, color or black & white, and paper size. Press the "Start" button (green for color, black for black & white) to begin copying.

Scanning

Place the document on the scanner glass or in the ADF. On the printer's touchscreen, select "Scan." You can choose to scan to a computer, a USB drive, or a cloud service. Follow the prompts on the display to complete the scan. The Canon PRINT app also allows you to scan directly to your smartphone or tablet.

Faxing

Connect the telephone line cable to the printer and your wall jack. Place the document to be faxed on the scanner glass or in the ADF. On the touchscreen, select "FAX." Enter the recipient's fax number and press "Start." The printer supports fax memory for storing incoming faxes.

Control Panel Navigation

The printer features an intuitive touchscreen display for easy navigation. Use the touch controls to access various functions like Copy, Fax, Scan, and Custom Profiles. You can also adjust settings for LAN, ECO mode, Quiet mode, and check ink levels directly from the panel.

Maintenance

Ink Cartridge Replacement

The printer will notify you on its display or your computer when an ink cartridge is low. To replace a cartridge, open the front cover. The print head carriage will move to the replacement position. Press the "PUSH" button on the empty cartridge to release it, then pull it out. Unpack the new Canon MAXIFY ink cartridge, remove any protective tape, and insert it into the correct slot until it clicks into place. Close the front cover. The printer will automatically register the new cartridge.

Cleaning

Regularly clean the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp cloth. For the scanner glass, use a lint-free cloth and a non-abrasive glass cleaner. Avoid spraying cleaner directly onto the glass. Periodically check the paper feed rollers for dust or paper residue and clean them if necessary, following instructions in the full user guide.
