ScorpionEXO EXO-AT950 Helmet User Manual
Model: EXO-AT950
1. Introduction
The ScorpionEXO EXO-AT950 is a versatile modular adventure touring helmet designed for various riding conditions. It offers the flexibility of a full-face adventure helmet with an external peak visor, or it can be converted into an aerodynamic touring helmet by removing the visor. The no-fog Everclear shield can be removed for off-road use with goggles. Its oversized eye port provides wide peripheral and downward visibility. The modular chin bar allows for easy opening, and the internal drop-down sun visor along with the Kwikwick II liner ensure comfort throughout the day. Constructed with advanced LG polycarbonate and dual-density EPS, the EXO-AT950 is lightweight, strong, and protective, meeting DOT FMVSS 218 standards.

4.2. Initial Fit Check
- Snug Fit: The helmet should fit snugly around your entire head, with no pressure points.
- Cheek Pads: Cheek pads should press firmly against your cheeks.
- Movement: With the chin strap fastened, try to move the helmet from side to side and up and down. Your skin should move with the helmet, indicating a good fit.
- Vision: Ensure your vision is not obstructed.
4.3. Attaching/Removing Peak Visor
The EXO-AT950 allows for configuration with or without the external peak visor. To attach or remove the peak visor, locate the attachment points on the helmet shell. Use the provided block-off plates when the visor is removed to maintain an aerodynamic profile.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Using the Main Shield
- Opening/Closing: Use the tab on the shield to raise or lower it. The Ellip-Tec Ratchet System ensures a secure seal when closed.
- Shield Removal/Installation: The shield can be removed without tools. Refer to the helmet's specific mechanism for detaching and reattaching the shield. This is useful for cleaning or when using goggles for off-road riding.
5.2. Operating the Internal Sun Visor
The Everclear SpeedView internal drop-down sun visor is operated by a sliding mechanism located on the side of the helmet. Slide the lever forward to deploy the sun visor and backward to retract it. This allows for quick adaptation to changing light conditions.
5.3. Using the Modular Chin Bar
To raise the modular chin bar, locate the single lever release mechanism, typically found at the front center of the chin bar. Press or pull the lever (depending on design) and lift the chin bar upwards until it locks into the open position. To close, pull the chin bar down firmly until it latches securely. Always ensure the chin bar is fully locked before riding.
5.4. Ventilation System
The helmet features multiple vents for airflow. Locate the adjustable vents on the chin, forehead, and rear of the helmet. Open or close these vents to control airflow and maintain comfort.
6. Maintenance and Care
6.1. Cleaning the Helmet Shell
- Use a soft cloth and mild soap with lukewarm water.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the shell's finish and integrity.
- Rinse thoroughly and air dry.
6.2. Cleaning the Visors
- Remove the main shield and internal sun visor if possible.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth and clean water. For stubborn dirt, a mild soap solution can be used.
- Gently wipe the surfaces. Do not scrub, especially on the anti-fog or anti-scratch coatings.
- Air dry or gently pat dry with a clean, soft cloth.
6.3. Cleaning the Interior Liner
The KwikWick II comfort liner is removable and washable.
- Carefully remove the liner components (crown pad, cheek pads).
- Hand wash with mild soap and lukewarm water, or machine wash on a gentle cycle in a laundry bag.
- Air dry completely before re-installing. Do not tumble dry or use heat.
6.4. Storage
Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid placing heavy objects on the helmet.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Visor fogs up easily. | High humidity, low temperature, or worn anti-fog coating. | Ensure vents are open for airflow. Clean visor. If persistent, consider anti-fog inserts or sprays. The Everclear shield has anti-fog technology, but extreme conditions may still cause fogging. |
| Helmet feels too tight/loose. | Incorrect size or new padding not yet broken in. | Refer to the sizing guide. New padding will compress over time. If still uncomfortable, consider different size cheek pads (if available) or a different helmet size. |
| Chin bar does not lock securely. | Obstruction in mechanism or misalignment. | Check for debris. Ensure the chin bar is aligned correctly before pushing it down. Do not force it. If the issue persists, contact customer support. |
| Excessive wind noise. | Visor not fully sealed, vents open, or helmet fit. | Ensure main shield is fully closed and sealed. Close vents if not needed. Verify helmet fit. Wind noise can vary based on motorcycle type and riding position. |
