1. Introduction

The COMTEC HDROP-05 is a direct wiring unit designed to enable parking surveillance functionality for compatible COMTEC drive recorders. This unit provides continuous or intermittent power supply to your drive recorder, allowing it to record events even when your vehicle is parked. It features a built-in G-sensor to detect impacts and ensure recording during critical moments. By connecting directly to your vehicle's ACC or IG line, it offers a clean installation without using the cigarette lighter socket.

• Constant Power Cable: Approximately 1.3 meters in length. Connects to a constant power source in the vehicle.
• Ground Terminal Cable: Approximately 1.0 meter in length. Connects to a suitable ground point on the vehicle chassis.

4.3 Recording Management

• Impact Event Protection: If an impact is detected during parking surveillance mode, the system is designed to terminate parking surveillance 5 minutes after the impact event. This measure helps prevent critical impact footage from being overwritten by subsequent recordings. This termination setting can be adjusted if continuous recording after impact is preferred.
• Automatic Overwrite: When the storage capacity of the drive recorder's memory card is full, the oldest recorded data will be automatically overwritten to make space for new recordings.

The HDROP-05 unit utilizes your vehicle's constant power supply, which places a load on the vehicle battery. To ensure optimal performance and prevent unexpected battery issues, it is crucial to:

• Regularly Inspect Vehicle Battery: Have your vehicle battery inspected periodically by a qualified technician.
• Monitor Battery Health: Pay attention to any signs of battery weakness, especially during cold weather or if the vehicle is not driven frequently.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Unit Not Operating / Drive Recorder Not Recording

• Battery Voltage Protection: The unit is equipped with a battery protection function. If the vehicle battery voltage drops below the preset threshold, the unit will automatically stop operation to prevent complete battery drain. Check your vehicle's battery health.
• Incorrect DIP Switch Settings: Verify that the DIP switches on the HDROP-05 are configured correctly for your desired parking surveillance mode. Refer to the operating instructions.
• Loose Connections: Check all wiring connections (ACC, constant power, ground) for looseness or corrosion.

6.2 Vehicle Battery Drain

While the HDROP-05 has a battery protection feature, prolonged use in certain conditions can still lead to battery drain. Refrain from using the parking surveillance function under the following circumstances:

• If you do not drive your vehicle daily.
• If your daily driving duration is less than 1 hour.
• If your vehicle battery has been in use for more than 1 year.

COMTEC is not responsible for vehicle battery drain. Regular battery inspection is recommended.

8.1 Compensation Service

This product includes a unique compensation service. In the event of an accident, COMTEC will pay a flat rate of 20,000 JPY as condolence money for one year from the date of registration. Please note the following conditions:
