Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance will extend the life of your remote control.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the remote control with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild cleaning solution, then wipe dry immediately. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the remote's response becomes sluggish or stops working. Always replace both batteries at the same time with new ones of the same type (AA).
  • Storage: Store the remote control in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If the remote will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your remote control, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Remote Not Responding:
    • Check if the batteries are inserted correctly with the correct polarity (+/-).
    • Replace old batteries with new AA batteries.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote control and the A/V receiver's infrared sensor.
    • Confirm the remote is pointed directly at the receiver.
  • Limited Range:
    • Ensure batteries are fresh.
    • Check for strong light sources (e.g., direct sunlight, fluorescent lights) that might interfere with the infrared signal.
  • Specific Buttons Not Working:
    • This remote is a replacement and may not have all the exact functions or buttons as the original Onkyo remote. Refer to your Onkyo receiver's manual for specific functions.
