5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Initial Start-up

  1. Before applying power, ensure the water heater tank is completely filled with water. Open a hot water faucet in your home until water flows steadily, indicating the tank is full and air has been purged.
  2. Once the tank is full, close the hot water faucet.
  3. Turn on the electrical power supply to the water heater.

5.2 Temperature Adjustment

The control panel located at the bottom of the unit allows you to set the desired water temperature. Refer to the markings on the control panel for specific temperature ranges. Typically, a dial or buttons will allow you to increase or decrease the set temperature. For energy efficiency and safety, it is recommended to set the temperature between 50°C and 60°C (120°F and 140°F).

5.3 Power On/Off

To turn the unit off, disconnect the electrical power supply at the circuit breaker. For temporary shutdowns, some models may have a power button on the control panel.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the efficiency and extends the lifespan of your water heater. All maintenance procedures should be performed by a qualified technician.

  • Anode Rod Inspection: The anode rod protects the tank from corrosion. It should be inspected and replaced every 1-3 years, or more frequently in areas with hard water.
  • Pressure Relief Valve Test: Test the pressure relief valve annually by lifting the lever. Water should flow out of the discharge pipe. If it does not, replace the valve.
  • Draining the Tank: Periodically drain a few liters of water from the tank to remove sediment buildup, which can reduce efficiency. This should be done at least once a year.
  • External Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the water heater with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your water heater, refer to the following common problems and potential solutions. For complex issues, contact a qualified technician.

  • No Hot Water:
    • Check if the power supply is on at the circuit breaker.
    • Verify the temperature setting on the control panel.
    • The heating element may have failed (requires professional replacement).
  • Insufficient Hot Water:
    • The temperature setting may be too low.
    • Sediment buildup in the tank can reduce capacity and heating efficiency (requires draining and flushing).
    • Heating element may be partially failing.
  • Water Leaking:
    • Check connections for loose fittings.
    • The pressure relief valve may be discharging due to excessive pressure or temperature.
    • Tank corrosion (requires professional inspection and potential replacement).
  • Unusual Noises (e.g., popping, rumbling):
    • Often caused by sediment buildup at the bottom of the tank. Draining and flushing may resolve this.
