5. Installation Instructions

Follow these steps carefully for proper installation. It is recommended to watch relevant installation videos for visual guidance, as some steps may require specific vehicle knowledge.

5.1. Unboxing and Inspection

Carefully unbox the bull bar and all components. Inspect for any damage or missing parts. The bull bar and hardware should be well-packaged to prevent damage during transit.

5.2. Prepare the Vehicle

  1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface and engage the parking brake. Turn off the engine.
  2. Locate the factory tow hooks (if present) on the front frame rails. These will need to be removed and will not be reused for the bull bar installation.
  3. Identify the 14mm nuts holding the front bumper frame. These will be loosened or removed to attach the mounting brackets.
  4. Important Note on Gravel Guard/Air Dam: Many 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma models feature a plastic gravel guard or air dam across the front. This component will likely need to be cut to accommodate the bull bar's mounting brackets. It is recommended to install the bull bar and then mark the areas for cutting to ensure a precise fit. Some users prefer to remove the guard entirely or make minimal slots.

5.3. Install Mounting Brackets

  1. On the driver's side, remove the 14mm nuts from the front bumper frame.
  2. Insert the M10 U-Bolt into the frame rail.
  3. Attach the driver's side mounting bracket to the frame rail, aligning it with the U-bolt and the existing bolt holes. Secure the bracket using the previously removed factory hardware and the U-bolt nuts. Apply Loctite Red to the threads. Do not fully tighten at this stage; leave some slack for adjustments.
  4. Repeat the process for the passenger's side mounting bracket.

5.4. Attach Bull Bar to Brackets

  1. Carefully lift the bull bar and align its mounting points with the installed brackets.
  2. Insert the provided bolts, washers, and nuts to connect the bull bar to the brackets. It may be easier to attach the bull bar to the lower brackets first, then secure the upper connections.
  3. Apply Loctite Red to all threads. Hand-tighten all hardware only at this stage. This allows for final adjustments.

5.5. Final Adjustments and Tightening

  1. Adjust the bull bar to your desired position, ensuring it is level and centered.
  2. Once satisfied with the alignment, fully tighten all nuts and bolts using the appropriate wrenches/sockets (16mm, 17mm, 19mm as needed). Ensure all connections are secure.
  3. If you chose to retain the plastic gravel guard/air dam, carefully mark and cut the necessary sections to fit around the bull bar and its brackets. Reinstall the modified guard.
