1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Angeleye SO-501-AE-FR Smoke Detector Duo Pack. This manual provides essential information for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your smoke detectors. Please read these instructions carefully before use and retain them for future reference. These detectors are designed to provide early warning of fire by detecting smoke particles.
This product is NF DAAF certified, ensuring compliance with safety standards for domestic smoke alarms.
2. Safety Information
- Important: Smoke detectors should be installed in accordance with local regulations and standards.
- Do Not Paint: Never paint the smoke detector. Paint can clog the sensing chamber and prevent the alarm from functioning correctly.
- Regular Testing: Test your smoke detector weekly to ensure it is operating properly.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries immediately when the low battery warning sounds.
- Placement: Install smoke detectors on every level of your home, inside bedrooms, and outside sleeping areas. Avoid placing them near kitchens, bathrooms, or garages where steam or exhaust might cause false alarms.
- Alarm Sound: The alarm sound is loud to alert you in case of fire. Do not disable the alarm unless performing a test or maintenance.

4. Setup and Installation
- Choose Location: Select an appropriate location on the ceiling or wall, away from corners and obstructions. Refer to local fire safety guidelines for optimal placement.

- Mark Drilling Points: Hold the mounting base against the chosen installation spot and mark the two drilling points through the screw holes.
- Drill Holes: Drill two holes at the marked points. Insert the wall plugs into the drilled holes.
- Secure Base: Align the mounting base with the wall plugs and secure it firmly using the provided screws.
- Attach Detector: Align the detector unit with the mounted base and twist it clockwise until it clicks securely into place.
- Test Unit: Press the large central button (labeled "PRESS TO TEST AND PAUSE ALARM") to test the detector. A loud alarm sound indicates proper function.

5. Operating Instructions
- Normal Operation: The detector is continuously monitoring for smoke. A small LED indicator may flash periodically to confirm normal operation.
- Testing the Alarm: Press and hold the large central button for a few seconds. The alarm will sound loudly. Release the button to stop the test. Test weekly.
- Alarm Activation: If smoke is detected, the alarm will sound a loud, continuous siren. The LED indicator will also flash rapidly.
- Silencing/Pausing the Alarm: In case of a false alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), press the large central button. This will temporarily silence the alarm for approximately 10 minutes. The detector will automatically reset after this period if no further smoke is detected. If smoke is still present, the alarm will reactivate.
- Low Battery Warning: When the batteries are low, the detector will emit a short "chirp" sound approximately once every 30-60 seconds. Replace the batteries immediately when this occurs.
6. Maintenance
- Weekly Test: Press the test button once a week to ensure the alarm is functioning.
- Battery Replacement: The included AAA batteries provide approximately 1 year of autonomy. Replace all 4 AAA batteries (2 per detector) annually, or immediately when the low battery chirp sounds. Use only recommended alkaline batteries.
- Cleaning: Gently vacuum the exterior of the smoke detector once a month using a soft brush attachment to remove dust and cobwebs. Do not use cleaning sprays or solvents.
- Do Not Disassemble: Do not attempt to open or repair the detector yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
