Setup and Installation
Transmitter Installation (Push Button)
- Prepare the Transmitter: The transmitter is pre-installed with a battery. Ensure the battery insulation tab (if present) is removed.
- Choose a Location: Select a flat, vertical surface near your door where the transmitter will be easily accessible to visitors. Ensure the surface is clean and dry.
- Mounting Options:
- Adhesive Tape (Recommended for easy installation): Peel off one side of the double-sided adhesive tape and stick it firmly to the back of the transmitter. Peel off the other side and press the transmitter firmly onto the chosen surface for at least 30 seconds.
- Screws (Recommended for enhanced security): Open the transmitter casing (if applicable, usually by prying gently from the bottom). Mark the screw holes on the wall. Drill pilot holes, insert wall plugs, and then secure the transmitter base with screws. Close the casing.
- Waterproof Rating: The transmitter is rated IP33 waterproof, suitable for outdoor use. However, avoid direct exposure to heavy rain or prolonged submersion.
Receiver Installation (Chime Unit)
- Choose a Location: Select a standard electrical outlet inside your home or office. Consider central locations for optimal sound distribution.
- Plug In: Simply plug the chime receiver into the chosen electrical outlet. No batteries are required for the receiver.
- Multiple Receivers: If you have multiple receivers, plug them into different outlets in areas where you want to hear the doorbell chime.
Operating Instructions
Changing Melodies
- Press the Melody Selection Button (often located on the side of the receiver) to cycle through the 52 available melodies.
- Stop pressing when you hear your desired melody. The receiver will remember your selection even after being unplugged.
Adjusting Volume
- Press the Volume Control Button (often located on the side of the receiver) to cycle through the 4 adjustable volume levels (ranging from 52dB to 85dB).
- Select the volume level that best suits your environment. The receiver will remember your selection.
Visual Alert (Flashing Light)
- When the push button is pressed, the transmitter will flash a blue LED light.
- Simultaneously, the receiver will also flash a blue LED light, providing a visual alert in addition to the audible chime. This feature is particularly useful for individuals with hearing impairments.
Pairing Additional Transmitters/Receivers (If applicable)
Your kit comes pre-paired. If you purchase additional TECKNET WA838 components or need to re-pair them:
- Plug in the receiver.
- Press and hold the Volume Control Button on the receiver for approximately 5 seconds until you hear a "ding" sound and the LED indicator starts flashing. This indicates the receiver is in pairing mode.
- Immediately press the push button on the transmitter. The receiver will chime, indicating successful pairing.
- To pair multiple transmitters with one receiver, repeat steps 2 and 3 for each additional transmitter.
- To pair one transmitter with multiple receivers, repeat steps 2 and 3 for each additional receiver.
Maintenance
- Transmitter Battery Replacement: The transmitter uses a standard 12V 23A alkaline battery. When the LED indicator on the transmitter no longer lights up or the range decreases significantly, it's time to replace the battery.
- Carefully open the transmitter casing.
- Remove the old battery and insert a new 12V 23A battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the casing securely.
- Cleaning: Wipe the doorbell units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Environmental Conditions: While the transmitter is waterproof, extreme temperatures or prolonged direct sunlight can affect battery life and performance.
